Nathaniel Hart stared at Emiliano Rogers, inwardly seething with anger.
This guy had a lot of nerve.
Did he think that would make Nathaniel overlook how long he’d been around Sofia Schneider?
“I get the feeling, Mr. Rogers, that you’re quite fond of Sofia,” Nathaniel said.
“Mr. Hart, are you suggesting that you don’t trust Sofia?” Emiliano pushed his glasses up, his normally gentle eyes now glinting with something different.
Nathaniel’s tongue pressed against his cheek.
This was a neat trick Emiliano was playing, trying to drive a wedge between him and Sofia.
If Sofia heard this, she might start doubting.
Nathaniel chuckled, “Mr. Rogers, no need to provoke me about my relationship with Sofia.”
“Really?” Emiliano smiled faintly, “I think it’s best, Mr. Hart, that you learn about Sofia from your own heart. What you hear from others will never give you the complete picture.”
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes, realizing this guy was indeed hard to deal with. Emiliano wasn’t giving anything away.
Nathaniel decided to change tactics.
If he couldn’t get information from Emiliano, he’d find another way.
After all, as Emiliano said, he should learn about Sofia directly from her.
Still, Nathaniel was curious about what Sofia had gone through to have such a close relationship with Emiliano and where she had learned her fighting skills.
She had lived with the Schneider family all her life, so what had brought her to the border six years ago?

Sofia emerged from the operating room and saw Emiliano’s message. She was silent for a while.
She had only kicked Kassidy Schneider, not expecting Emiliano to worry so much.
And she didn’t need to ask how Emiliano knew she was aware that someone in the hospital was watching her, and she knew it was Nathaniel’s people.
Sofia wasn’t surprised that the video ended up in Nathaniel’s hands.
She suddenly remembered the fight with Nathaniel’s men six years ago, although Nathaniel wasn’t among them then.
He shouldn’t recognize her as the masked woman.
Sofia sighed and cursed Kassidy again in her heart.
After some thought, Sofia sent a message back to Emiliano, “No worries. If anyone comes after me, I’ll handle it.”

But if the trouble involved Nathaniel, she might hesitate a bit.
Sofia was startled by her own thoughts and pouted in dissatisfaction.

She didn’t even know.
Putting away her phone, Sofia was about to leave the hospital when a nurse ran up to her, clearly looking for her.
“Dr. Schneider, you’re finally out of surgery. Kassidy was just taken away,” the nurse said.
Sofia was puzzled, “Taken away? By whom?”
She quickly ran through her thoughts but couldn’t figure out who would take Kassidy.
Given the timing, Kassidy shouldn’t have come out of anesthesia yet, so she wouldn’t have had time to contact the Schneider family.
“Who?” Sofia asked.
“I don’t know. A group of men in black just took her away,” the nurse said, obviously still shaken by the event.
Sofia patted her shoulder, “Got it. I’ll handle it. You can go back to your work.”
The nurse nodded and left, still casting a confused glance at Sofia, who seemed remarkably calm.
The hospital was buzzing with rumors that Dr. Schneider didn’t get along with her family, and today’s incident confirmed it for many.
The nurse found it hard to reconcile the normally gentle Dr. Schneider with the fierce woman who kicked Kassidy into the operating room.
Sofia didn’t leave immediately but instead pulled up the hospital’s surveillance footage to see who had taken Kassidy.
When she saw the men’s distinctive insignia, Sofia couldn’t help but smile.
