Chapter 92
Eloise walked in with a smile, noticing Charles pointing, still in a bad mood.
“I’m fine,” Charles said:
“Dad, you can treat me however you want, but don’t be ride to Eloise,” William said with a cocky smirk.
Seeing William’s attitude, Charles was ready to lose his temper again.
“Dad, you don’t need to go to the hospital. Let me give you a massage, and you’ll feel better,” Floise said softly
Charles couldn’t bring himself to refuse Eloise, so he extended his arm for her to check his blood pressure. It was a bit high, but not too had
Eloise took Charles’s hand and began massaging it from his palm to his fingertips. As she massaged, she asked about his recent routine, just as she would with any patient in her clinic.
Charles, probably a little afraid of doctors, straightened up liminediately upon hearing her tone. He assured her he hadn’t had any alcohol recently and hadn’t eaten anything too heavy.
“Oh really?” Mevis hutted. “So, who’s been having greasy food and still drinking, smoking, and skipping exercise?”
“LING” Charles stammered
installed surveillance cameras in your office. You think you can hide anything from me?” Mavis retorted.
Charles pressed his lips together, still unwilling to admit it.
Eloise massaged him for a while longer, then chocked his blood pressure again. The reading was much lower.
“First, you need to quit smoking and drinking. Exercise more–that’s essential. Your diet has to be lighter too, with a good balance of protein and vegetables,” Eloise said, her brow furrowing as she instinctively slipped into her doctor mode.
She paused before continuing. “At your age, high blood pressure is very dangerous. It can lead to many other health problems, so you really need to take this seriously.”
“Yes, doctor. I’ll do as you say,” Charles replied obediently.
“Good, let’s start with quitting smoking and drinking,” Eloise said.
“What?” Charles exclaimed.
“Is that a problem?” Eloise asked.
“Well Okay,” Charles replied.
“Great, I’ll make a plan for you. We’ll take it step by step
step,” Eloise said.
So. Maybe just one drink tonight? As a farewell?” Charles asked, his voice hopeful
Eloise shook her head. “No.”
As she spoke, she instinctively reached for her patient records, but then realized she wasn’t at the hospital. Pregnant women with high blood pressure were at a very high risk, and she’d unconsciously transferred that concern to Charles, which seemed to worry him.
“I’ll be keeping an eye on you,” Eloise said, clearing her throat
Mavis nudged William. “Looks like we’ve finally found someone your dad is afraid of.”
At dinner, Eloise prepared a light meal for Charles, and under her watchful eye, he ate each bite with a resigned expression. He considered reaching for the braised short ribs, but when Eloise cleared her throat softly, he quickly set his look down.
“Like I told you, once your blood pressure and other readings are normal, you can occasionally enjoy the foods you love,” Eloise said, adding more vegetables to his plate
Charles just picked up his fork and are without a word.
“Good. I’ll go for a walk with you later,” Eloise said.
“A walk?” Charles looked shocked.
“Yes,”
“Eloise said. “You’re so busy, you barely have time to exercise. So, we’ll start with morning and evening walls and gradually increase your activity. By the way, how long has it been since your last physical
“Not that long,” Charles muttered.
“It’s been almost three years,” Mavis interjected, not covering for him. “He always has some excuse to get out of it when it’s time for a check–up”
Charles shot Mavis a glare before lowering his head.
“Then let’s schedule a physical as soon as possible,” Elulse sald
“I’ve been really busy lately,” Charles sald
