Chapter 69
Eloise hurried down the stairs after William right up to the doors.
She grew even more worried when she saw that John was so anxious that he still had his apron on and was holding a metal rod. On the other hand, Leela seemed used to seeing this.
She came outside carrying Jojo and called out, “John, come back quickly once you’re done, I can’t manage the restaurant alone!”
Eloise rock jojo from her to make her job easier.
“Olly has a logistics team. His team and some others are restocking at the warehouse. They fight over the goods if there isn’t enough stock. It’s nothing
However, Eloise’s worry mounted when she heard that
Leela smiled and said, “I would be worried if John went alone, but I feel a lot better knowing that William’s with him. William is a reasonable man, and he’ll keep the situation under control.”
Eloise nodded. Jojo started whining because he was getting bored.
“I’ll play with Jojo outside for a while,” said Eloise.
A customer called for Leela. She responded and told Eloise, “The food’s ready.”
“I’ll wait for William,” said Eloise.
“Sure,” said Leela and quickly went to serve the customer.
Eloise carmed jojo outside onto the bustling street. There were many roadside stalls.
She walked up the street with Jojo until they reached the end, where Aldi University was located.
They could see the football field and library from the fence. The faculty of medicine was to the left of the library,
Jojo gled excitedly when he saw people playing football on the field.
Eloise lifted him higher so he could get a better view. It was afternoon, and many students came to collect their food deliveries near the fence,
Eloise suddenly recalled that a girl from the same dormitory loved the beef ples from Ben’s Ples. She would order takeout regularly and come to the fence to pick it up after 20 minutes.
Once, someone had asked the girl out to dinner after she had ordered takeout, so the girl had asked Eloise to pick up her delivery and finish the ples
“Their beet pies are amazing. Try it,” the girl had said.
Eloise seldom ordered takeout because Jacob disliked it. Therefore, she had learned how to cook and made trips to his dormitory to cook for him.
She had already been very busy with medical school, but she still had to act like a nanny for J
Jacob. Why hadn’t she thought it was too tiring?
That one time, Jacob had gone out for business, so she didn’t have to cook for him at his place. Hence, she agreed to pick up the delivery for the girl.
Eloise remembered that the delivery girl had short hair. Besides, the girl had a wound on her face.
“Do you need me to dress your wound?” asked Eloise kindly.
The girl rolled her eyes and said, “Does everyone from Aldi University love feeling sorry for others?
“That wasn’t what I meant,” said Eloise and shook her head.
“What makes you guys think you’re better than everyone else?” retorted the delivery girl
The girl tossed the takeout container at Eloise and left in a buff.
Eloise had been so confused, but thinking of it now, the beef pies were delicious. After that, Eloise had ordered the same beet ples from Ben’s Pies, but they tasted different.
Kids got tired easily. They could be so excited in one moment and start yawning in exhaustion in the next.
Eloise carried Jojo back to the restaurant. There were fewer customers now and a waiter was clearing the tables.
Leela brought some best ples to some customers in a private room and returned to find her son asleep.
She took him from Eloise and carried him upstairs. She came back a moment later and found Eloise wiping a table. She quickly took the cloth from Eloise and said, “Dr. Sullivan, you can’t do work like this. It’s dirty.”
“It’s fine. I cook, wash, and wipe the table at home too,” said Eloise
“William doesn’t help our?” asked Levia
“Ah, he does,” replied Eloise
Actually, she had been talking about the time she and Jacob had been dating. She had done all the chores.
“Listen to me. Men can’t be spoiled,” said Leela while wiping the table.
Then, she went closer to Eloise and whispered, “William’s cooking is amazing. Let him do the cooking next time.”
