Chapter 48
“Ms. Sullivan, you’re finally back! Hurry and go inside to change. Maria pushed Eloise toward the house.
“Change?” Eloise was confused.
“The clothes Mr. Robinson prepared for you to thank you for saving his life earlier.”
She was puzzled. She hadn’t saved his life. The snake that bit him wasn’t poisonous.
But before she could say anything, Maria started helping her take off her clothes.
“I can do it myself!” Eloise quickly said.
On the bed, there was a white strapless gown, smooth and delicate to the touch, with a pearl necklace and earrings beside it. She changed into the dress, did a simple makeup, and followed Maria into the residence.
At that moment, the music for the party stopped. As the door opened, Maria pushed her inside, and everyone tumed to look at her.
“Maria, I’ll wait outside for Mr. Robinson—”
She felt uneasy, wanting to step back, but at that moment, Maureen called out to her, “Ah, Eloise, how could I forget you? Come in!”
Maureen walked over in high heels and grabbed Eloise’s arm with an ambiguous smile as she pulled her in.
“Let me introduce you all. This is my college classmate, Eloise Sullivan. You may not have met her, but you might have heard her name since she was all over the trending news recently. She was later fired from the hospital, but Sophia let go of the past and hired her as her personal doctor.”
Mentioning the trending news made everyone understand right away, and they began to look at Eloise with mocking eyes.
“Please forgive her. She’s from the countryside and hasn’t seen much of the world, but she’s quite scheming and had a dress prepared in advance. I was so busy earlier that I forgot about her. Look how thick–skinned she is, coming here uninvited.”
Her words were full of sarcasm, and Eloise frowned, pulling her arm away from Maureen’s grasp.
“I didn’t come for your birthday party. I’m here to…”
“Of course, you didn’t come for my birthday party. will support you?”

As soon as Maureen spoke, the people around her laughed.
At that moment, Jacob came over with a serious face. “Who let you in? Get out!”
Sophia also walked over with a hypocritical smile. “Eloise, people invited to Maureen’s birthday party are well–respected. Your status doesn’t match.”
Eloise was speechless. What was her status? And what were theirs?
Just then, someone called out, “Mr. Robinson is here.”
Everyone tumed to look ahead, and as soon as Liam appeared, they started clapping and cheering.
Eloise looked over and saw Liam in a white suit, elegant and distinguished, completely different from the man who had been rolling on the ground in pain earlier.
“This is not the place for you!” Jacob came closer to her.
She took a step back and ignored him.
Also, do you think the dress you’re wearing suits you?
“Jacob, are you out of your mind? Your fiancée is over there. Why do you keep coming around me?” she said, disgusted.
Soplia glanced over and sighed. “Eloise, why bother? You look like a clown now.”
The word “clown” made those nearby chuckle softly.
Maureen snorted. “You’d better leave quickly, or I’ll have someone throw you out. You’ll lose your dignity by then.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the music started again, and Liam was about to lead the first dance.
Maureen quickly adjusted her clothes, no longer paying attention to anyone else, eagerly waiting for Liam to invite her. After all, she was the center of attention today and also Liam’s most recent numored girlfriend.
When Liam’s gaze turned toward her, she eagerly stepped forward.
“Ms. Sullivan, may invite you to this dance?”
Liam’s gaze cut through the crowd, finally landing on Floise.
