Chapter 16
Just then, Jacob arrived with a thermal food container in his hand.
He passed it to Sophia’s assistant, told her it was some chicken soup, and asked her to scoop up a bowl for Sophia.
Sophia immediately burst into tears. She jumped out of bed, rushed over to Eloise, and began crying pitifully. “Eloise, I really enjoy being an actress. Please don’t min my career.”
Eloise scoffed. Just a minute ago, she had asked Amelia to threaten her. Yet now that Jacob was here, she was acting as if she were the victim.
“I know you hate me because Jacob chose to marry me instead. I’m really sorry. Please just admit that the photo was edited and ask those haters to stop attacking The. I can’t stand it ammore. I’m afraid I might harm myself again”
Eloise felt a surge of anger well up within her. She yelled, “So just because you’re scared of getting trashed and ruining your career, I have to suffer instead? Why should I? You’re the one in the wrong, not me. Why should I bear the consequences?
“Do you need me to kneel?”
As she said this, Sophia slowly got down on her knees, but Jacob quickly stopped her.
“Jacob, please help me convince Eloise! Isn’t she upset that I’ve taken you away from her? I can promise that after we get married, she can still be with you. I’ll tum a blind eye and pretend not to know anything”
Upon hearing this, Eloise could no longer hold back her anger. She stepped forward, prepared to give Sophia a tight slap. Yet, before she could, Jacob stopped her. At her boiling point, she turned and slapped Jacob instead.
“How dare you insult me like this!”
Jacob’s expression darkened, and he shot Eloise a sharp glare. But upon seeing tears glistening
glistening in the comer of her eyes, the words he had wanted to say caught in his throat
“This is bad! Someone has leaked our information!“Amelia swiped frantically through her phone, her expression growing increasingly grim. “Sophia, your intimate photos with Shawn have been posted online! It’s now on the trending list!”
Sophia collapsed against the hospital bed. “Who–who is doing this to me?”
Amelia shook her head. “We don’t know yet.”
Η
Just then, Amelia received a private message. “I’ll give you ten minutes to clear up all the rumors about Dr. Sullivan. If not, I’ll release even more dirt.” Amelia held up her phone for Jacob and Sophia to see. After reading the message, both of them turned toward Eloise.
Eloise sneered, “Do you really think I have such ability?”
Jacob sat on the couch and took a deep breath. Then, he logged into his account, typed a long message, and posted it online.
“Dr. Sullivan and I had been dating for eight years since we entered university. All the rumors about her online are fake. As for my relationship with Sophia, I started dating her while I was still with Dr. Sullivan, and neither of them knew about each other.
“Dr. Sullivan and I are currently no longer together, and Sophia is bearing my chuld. I would like to sincerely apologize to both of them, and I ask everyone to stop making speculations and accusations. They are both innocent. The fault lies entirely with me.”
Jacob had put the blame all on himself. After glancing at his post, Eloise swiftly tucked her phone away.
She couldn’t care less whether he took the blame or not; all she cared about was if her name had been cleared.
Upon returning to the office, Celia approached her and asked, “Eloise, are you sure you don’t have anyone backing you up?
Eloise replied in confusion, “Why do you ask?”
Those intimate pictures of Sophia and Shawn were likely not leaked by someone within the entertainment industry. Everyone is in the circle, so they typically wouldn’t risk exposing someone else’s dirt without knowing what could be used against them.
“Whoever leaked those photos of Sophia and Shawn has now made enemies with two major entertainment companies. Not only did they offend them, but they’ve basically challenged them head–on.
Eloise thought back to the private message Amelia had received. It was clear that the person who sent it was trying to protect her.
But who could it be? Could it be.
Eloise pulled out her phone and texted William “Was it you?” she asked.
