Chapter 96 Making a Fool of Herself
Icouldn’t help but laugh at Elsa and her clique for being so full of themselves. I pulled out my phone, turned on the flashlight, and shone it directly on Elsa.
“You know, Eirlys‘ designer clothes feature a logo embroidered with special silk thread to prevent counterfeiting. It would usually be visible in the daylight, and yet, even with the flashlight shining on it now, I can’t see anything on your dress.
“Is it really that hard for you to admit that you’re wearing a fake, Elsa? If you don’t believe me, you can always call Eirlys‘ assistant or studio to ask them. But that would just lead to another embarrassing moment for you.
”
Elsa’s face turned beet red as her friends‘ conviction in her claim began to wane. Their eyes lingered on her dress, their doubt palpable.
“Did you really buy this dress from the official website, Elsa?”
“I think someone mentioned Eirlys‘ logo before this. I think you should give them a call to verify this, Elsa.”
“I think so too, Elsa. I don’t think we should let Jane get away with this any longer. Why not just call the studio and prove her wrong?”
Levi and Lexchanged knowing glances, our smiles widening in response. It was clear that Elsa wouldn’t dare to make that call. If she did, she would be the one making a fool of herself.
It turned out the way I expected it to as Elsa chuckled nervously and said, “I–I’m not feeling that well right now. I think we should just head back first. I’ll call the studio later, but the dress I’m wearing is definitely not a fake!”
After saving that, Elsa shot me a venomous glare and then pulled her bewildered friends away in a rush.
“Are you seriously going to let them off the hook so easily, Jane? If that photo isn’t deleted and ends up getting posted online, it could severely tarnish your image. I can take care of this if you want me to. I’ll go talk to them and make sure they delete it willingly.”
I smiled faintly and said, “Didn’t you notice that one of them was recording the whole thing earlier? If this gets out of hand, it’ll only make things worse. You don’t have to worry, though. I’ve got a backup plan in case things do go awry.”
I then took out my phone with a smile and showed Levi the video. “I know Elsa is the kind of person who’ll only dare to act tough in front of me. I also know that she won’t dare to post that photo online since I have this video in my possession.
“If it really blows up, she won’t be able to justify herself. I mean, do you really think she’d risk tarnishing the reputation she had worked so hard to cultivate for herself for something like this?”
Levi immediately looked at me and gave me a thumbs–up, saying, “You’ve really thought this through, Jane! I feel reassured now, but what happens if she causes trouble again? Are you really just going to let it slide?”
I shook my head and replied, “It’s not that I don’t want to take care of it, but I seriously don’t have the energy to deal with it right now. I mean, the studio launch is coming up, and I have a lot on my plate with the fashion business. I can’t afford to get bogged down in her
drama
“And besides, with this video in my possession, there’s only so much she can do no matter how brazen she is.”
Levi nodded thoughtfully and said nothing more.
It turned out the way I expected it to as the photo wasn’t posted online. However, it got sent straight to Jeremiah’s phone.
Levi and I were in a meeting with the clothing manufacturer when I received a phone call from an unknown number. I couldn’t place the caller right away, and I had already blocked Jeremiah’s number before this.
I had just answered the call when Jeremiah’s low, threatening voice came through. “Let’s meet up. I need to talk to you. If you don’t show up, I’ll come to your doorstep instead. It’s your call.”
