Chapter 71 I’ll Listen to You
Jeremiah let out a scream as he collapsed to the ground. He was unable to straighten his back due to the pain.
“Jeremiah!” Elsa screamed and hurried over to help him while the others stood frozen in fear, too
o afraid to move.
Anyone who dared to act now would undoubtedly be opposing Eric, and no one wanted to face the consequences of that.
In the dim light, Eric stared coldly at Jeremials with an air of menace surrounding him. This was the second time I had seen Eric so enraged, and it was still for my sake.
Linstinctively grabbed his arm, spealdag softly, “Alright, Eric. Don’t bother with someone like him. Now that you’ve taught him a lesson, let’s just go. ”
As soon as I spoke, the cold atmosphere around Eric immediately dissipated. When he looked at me again, his gaze had returned to its usual calm
“I’ll do whatever you say.”
Just as we
as we turned to leave, Jeremiah’s angry, pained voice came from behind. “Jane, you ganged up with another man on me today. If I ever get the chance, I won’t let you two off! The more you try to divorce me, the less I’ll let you have your way! Even if this becomes a huge scandal, you won’t get what you want so easily!”
I turned around and looked at Jeremiah coldly, feeling nothing but contempt for him.
“Do you think I care about your opinion? The moment you refused to divorce me, our relationship was already laid bare. When the court hearing comes, you’ll have no choice but to accept it no matter how the judgment goes.”
After saying that, Eric and I walked out together. As the door to the private room closed, I could vaguely hear Elsa’s complaints. I couldn’t help but sneer. Elsa was only brave enough to scheme behind my back, she would never dare act like that in front of me. “Jae, are you alright?” Eric’s voice suddenly came from beside me.
I looked at him in a daze, feeling a bit confused. “What could be wrong with me? It’s you I’m worried about. You were so angry just now. Even I was scared.”
He paused for a moment, then suddenly grabbed my wrist and said in a softened tone, “It’s my fault. Don’t worry, there won’t be
a next time.”
When our eyes met, I felt my heart skip a beat and instinctively pulled my hand back. “Y–You don’t have to say these things. I already owe you a lot. I’m just happy that you could help me.”
After spending some time together, Eric and I had grown closer. Now, we didn’t even avoid physical contact as much.
He seemed to realize this too, and he cleared his throat, looking a bit awkward. “Should I take you home?”
I nodded without hesitation, not wanting to reject him at this moment as it would make me seem like I had something to hide. Once we got back, we had dinner together. In the middle of the meal, I suddenly received a call from Dad.
“Jae, there’s a friend of mine who heard about your plans to start a business and is really interested. He wants to talk to you about investing, but I’m not sure if you’re interested.”
I was surprised.
Dad’s friend?
That was strange.
I remembered that most of Dad’s friends were in the real estate and business industries, and they were all older men. Why would anyone be interested in jewelry design?
“Dad, who is this friend of yours?”

“It’s Benson, the one you’ve met before. He bought you a lot of gifts last time you saw him!”
I searched my memory, and the image of a serious, middle–aged man appeared in my mind.
