The scent of wine mixed with a unique, cool woodly fragrance enveloped me entirely.
1 stared into those deep, dark eyes, feeling an odd sense of familiarity. But my mind was too foggy to think further, and my hands instinctively wrapped
around his neck
1 chuckled softly, tilting my head to plant a quick kiss on his face. “You’re so handsome!”
He froze in place, his deep, magnetle voice laced with a trace of restraint, “Jane, you made the first move,”
Leouldn’t grasp the meaning behind his words and instead nuzzled into his neck, mumbling, “You smell so nice too…
I felt his throat tighten, and the next moment, the restraint in his voice seemed to shatter. I couldn’t make out his expression, but the shadow over me deepened.
Then, his cool lips pressed against mine. What happened after

was a blur, I only remembered feeling unbearably warm, like I was floating on clouds.
My consciousness was fading in and out.
I thought I heard a soft sigh near my ear.
“So close… I almost went out of control”
It was already morning when I opened my eyes.
again.
The hangover hit me hard, my head pounded mercilessly. As soon as 1 blinked myself awake, the first thing I saw was Eric’s devilishly handsome face.
Why was he here? And why was he in my bed?
Suddenly, memories of the night before came rushing back like a tidal wave,
My eyes widened in shock. Did something happen between me and Eric last night?
The thought barely surfaced before I shoved it away, too scared to dwell on it. Instinctively, I scooted away from him, only to tug at the blanket in the process.
The movement stirred Eric awake, and he slowly opened his eyes. When he saw my panicked expression, a hint of anusement flashed in his gaze.
d at me with a mock grievance, making my heart skip a beat and leaving me utterly unsure of
“So, are you not planning to take responsibility?” He looked at me myself.
Wait… Did we really do something last night?
No, right?
Awkwardly, I forced a smile, testing the waters with a hesitant tone. “Nothing serious happened last night, right?”
He propped his head up with one hand, leisurely staring at me and refusing to answer. His silence only made my heart race even faster.
“It something did happen…“I closed my eyes, gritted my teeth, and steeled myself. “Don’t worry. I’ll take responsibility!”
At that, he chuckled softly, his handsome features lighting up with an easy, teasing grin.
“Oh? And how exactly are you planning to take responsibility? Marry me? The city clerk’s office is probably open by now,”
He was seriously rushing this, wasn’t he?
1 pouted. “What else can I do? If something did happen between us, I can’t just take advantage of you and pretend it didn’t, right?”
His grin deepened as he gave me a once–over, his eyes brimming with laughter.
“That’s touching to hear. But unfortunately for you, nothing happened last night. If you don’t believe me, why don’t you take a look at yourself?”
I froze for a second, then glanced down. All my clothes were still intact.
Gosh! I was so hungover that I didn’t even think to check my clothes first and jumped straight to conclusions. Clearing my throat, I looked away, trying to hide iny ranbarrassment.
“Then why are you la iny bed?”
He looked even more apprieved now.
“You wouldn’t let me leave last night. You kept ranting about your ex–husband and sister, I tried to comfort you, but you pulled me onto the bed and wouldn’t let me go. I had no choice but to stay.” After finishing, he heaved a dramatic sigl
I wanted to dig a hole and bury myself. I felt any lace burning up,
Did I really act like such a mess?
Did this mean Eric barely got any sleep because of me?
