Jack’s question stunned me for a moment. I blinked as I stared at him in disbelief.
I never thought that he’d actually side with Elsa even when presented with such concrete evidence. He actually believed such a ridiculous excu
I knew I had never wronged Jack. When did I become such a wicked person in his heart?
I felt like the brother I grew up with was becoming more and more of a stranger to me.
He was just hopelessly dumb!
“Jack, our cooperation stops here. Working together with an idiot like you is really an insult to my intelligence.” Eric, who had been silent for a while, suddenly spole, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “If you want to continue making a living in the corporate world, I suggest you first get your head checked in the hospital!”
Jack’s expression darkened with that remark. Elsa immediately came to his defense.
“Mr. Flint, did my brother do something wrong by choosing to believe me? I know you have a sharp tongue, but you can’t insult him like that!” Eric turned to glare at her. “You were the one who caused this entire mess, yet you’re pretending to be the good guy now?” he coldly quipped. Elsa was at a loss for words after his retort
Jack could not bear it any longer and was about to speak up for her when Elsa quickly held him back. “Jack, please don’t offend Mr. Flint because of me It’s not worth it.” Elsa was being considerate.
She composed herself and raised her head to look at me. “Jane, you don’t look so good. Let me take you to the hospital for a check–up,” Elsa said in
concern.
I didn’t look so good because these idiots had been getting on my nerves!
I rolled my eyes and rejected her offer, saying, “I’m not as weak as you. I don’t need to go to the hospital just because I had a little splash in the water.” “But…” Elsa hesitated, looking at me.
“I’m worried about your baby. Why don’t we just take a quick trip to the hospital?”
It felt like the air suddenly froze after she uttered those words.
Jack’s eyes widened in shock as he looked at me. “You’re pregnant?”
My brow suddenly twitched heavily. A sense of foreboding quickly came over me.
As expected, Elsa continued with her reveal. “I know you don’t want Jeremiah to know of the baby’s existence, but your health and baby are more important. Even if he knows the truth, he won’t blame you.”
Her words made my brows furrow. Why did she make it sound so weird?
It sounded like the baby in my belly did not belong to Jeremiah.
I had just realized that when suddenly, Jeremiah’s voice rang in my ears. “What? You’re pregnant?”
He quickly stepped in front of me. He took a glance at Eric, who was standing next to me, and his expression turned grim. “Tell me, whose baby is it?” he asked sharply
When I saw Jeremiah appear, I finally understood what Elsa meant to do by saying those things. She wanted Jeremiah to wrongly think that the reason I tried to divorce him was because I was pregnant with someone else’s baby,
It turned out I had underestimated Elsa’s scheming nature.

I grimaced in pain. “Jeremiah, let go of me! Stop acting crazy!”
He held me in an iron grip, and I was unable to shake him off.
Eric helped me pry off Jeremiah’s fingers and hold me tight in his arms. He stared at Jeremiah coldly. “If you dare touch her again, I don’t mind breaking, your fingers!”
Jeremiah stared at me, then at Eric. He suddenly started to laugh, his expression twisting from his laughter.
“I see it now! So, you two are really together! I totally underestimated your progress. You even have a baby together now?”
