Chapter 45
After I murmured those words, I suddenly recalled that I had come here only after receiving a call from that person.
Where did they go? I searched everywhere but found no trace of them.
The leader had promised 1 could repay them within ten days, so why did they suddenly show up today demanding money? Mom was so afraid of pain. How could she possibly commit suicide by jumping? Something was off–this just didn’t add up! I turned to Linda who was standing nearby, seeking help.
“You know my mom is terrified of pain. She wouldn’t jump. Something must have happened that we don’t know about.”
concem.
“I know you’re hurting, but the facts are clear. Ferly committed suicide. You need to face reality,” she said, her eyes red with conc
I shook my head in despair. “No way! My mom would never do that! Did you call the police?”
Linda hesitated but finally dialed for help. I turned back, trembling as I smoothed Mom’s hair.
“Mom, didn’t you say you were enjoying life now? Why would you jump? You promised me that once the debts were settled, you’d stop causing trouble and just enjoy life..
“Please get up and talk to me! Just say something, and I’ll give you whatever you want, Mom, please wake up!”
I said so much, but Mom lay still on the ground and ignored me.
Shortly after, the police arrived. They took my mom away, and I climbed into the police car behind them.
Two hours later, the examination results came back.
The officer said, “There were no traces of anyone else’s skin or blood found on the deceased. There are also no signs of a struggle, and no hair from a third party was found at the scene. We are ruling this as a suicide,
I looked up at the officer, panic rising within me. “That’s impossible! My mom was terrified of pain. She would never take her own life. And when I rushed over, I heard the debt collectors demanding money from her. They must have driven her to do this!”
The officer took my words down with a professional demeanor. “Mr. Palmer, we will look into your concerns and contact you with any updates. For now, please go home and wait for the results.”
“Fine”
A sudden chill washed over me, leaving an emptiness in my chest. Before I could step out of the police station, I lost consciousness.
In my dream, I relived countless memories with Mom–my father drunkenly hitting her, her moments protecting me, my father plotting against Juliette and her fierce arguments with him, Mom’s laughter while playing blackjack, and the pride in her eyes when I bought her a house.
It seemed like Mom didn’t love me as much as she loved herself. How could she be gone just like that?
I didn’t know how long it was before I regained some awareness and vaguely heard Jayden on the phone with Sophia.
Jayden said, “Joshua has fainted again. This time, It’s i

Before he could finish, Sophia interrupted impatiently, “Is Joshua really that weak? Why does he faint every few days? Even though acting doesn’t tire him out, it’s exhausting to listen to this.”
Jeyden replied firmly, “He’s not faking it. He’s very ill”
“Is lir dead
