Chapter 29
I knew that the phone call had come from Edison.
Because apart from him, I had never seen Sophia care so much about anyone.
On the sixth day, after another round of chemotherapy, I could no longer hold back and pulled Jayden’s hand, asking, “Jayden, can I stop the chemotherapy?”
The chemotherapy was incredibly painful.
I didn’t want to spend the final months of my life in so much agony.
Jayden looked at me in silence, his eyes reddening, but he didn’t say anything.
I smiled and said, “Jayden, I’m only in my 20s. What if my hair all falls out from the chemotherapy? I don’t want to become a bald guy at such a young
Like all the other times before, he still didn’t agree. He laughed it off and said, “Il your condition improves, we won’t need chemotherapy anymore.”
“Okay,” I softly responded and smiled, changing the subject to the entertainment news I had seen recently.
He chatted with me for a while, then reminded the nurse to take good care of me before leaving
As he turned to leave, I clearly saw tears at the corners of his eyes.
The nurse cut me a plate of fruit and tidied up the room while I opened my phone, feeling bored.
A trending news article popped up as soon as I unlocked the screen.
“Breaking News! A famous entertainment reporter exposes the president of Holmes Group for having an affair with her lover. Just how exciting is her private life?”
On impulse, I clicked on the trending link, and it revealed a short video.
The video was shaky, obviously taken in secret.
I instantly recognized the main characters in the video–Sophia and Edison. They were being affectionate with each other, chatting and laughing as they returned home, the home I once shared with her.
My tolerance for such news had increased since I had witnessed even more explicit live streams,
I suddenly found myself wondering about her feelings for him.
She liked him, yet she didn’t divorce me. Was she willing to let him always be her side lover?
The following day, when I woke up, I saw Sophia.
I was surprised to learn that she had come to the hospital so early. Just as I thought this, I saw her lover enter my room with breakfast in hand, brightly.
“Sophie, Joshua, I bought brealdast. Let’s eat together.”
I stared at him in silence, making no move. The atmosphere in the room became somewhat tense.

He looked at me helplessly, then glanced at Sophia. After a long pause, he said pitifully, “Joshua, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you didn’t want to see me. I’ll leave right away.”
I remained silent, letting him put on his act in front of her,
Any normal man in this world probably wouldn’t want to see a third p

“Okay,” Edison responded weakly. As he was about to leave the room, he turned back, looking at me with apparent sincerity. “Joshua, whether you like me or not, I hope you recover soon
After saying this, he raised an eyebrow at me provocatively as he turned to leave.
She didn’t notice his little secret gesture. After he left, she sat down next to my bed.
“He said ‘s very grateful that you donated blood to save him before, so he wanted to thank you
I looked up at her quietly. “Is that supposed to be an explanation?”
