Chapter 28
“Why?” Sophia stared intently at Edison sitting beside her as if trying to see through him.
His palm slightly dampened with sweat as he met her gaze. He spoke seriously. “I was close to death several times before. If Joshua hadn’t donated his
blood, I wouldn’t have survived.
“Sophie, I can now finally do something for him. Please give me the chance to repay him, okay?”
“Okay. You can handle this, but remember not to overwork yourself.”
At that moment, she suddenly realized her feelings for Edison once more,
She had been looking for a replacement for Edson all these years, and Edison was the most similar to him. However, she wouldn’t divorce Joshua for him. She wouldn’t mind caring for him for the rest of his life as long as he stayed obediently by her side.
Edison’s lips broke into a bright, pure smile upon hearing the answer he had hoped for.
“That’s great. Now I can finally do something for Joshua.”
Sophia also smiled. “Take me home,”
“Okay.” That evening, he drove her home.
He held her hand as she was about to get out of the car. “Sophie, I know you’re not lacking men, and you don’t plan to divorce Joshua, but I truly like you. I. It one day you and Joshua’s relationship improves, would you leave me?”
Sophia gently touched his face, smiling as she comforted him. “Silly, I won’t leave you.”
After she exited the car, he immediately looked down and sent a message, “Everything is going smoothly. The plan is proceeding as planned.”

There was a knock on the door. After that, the nurse entered the ward.
“I’m here to change your nutrient solution.”
“Okay,” I replied softly and turned my gaze to the window, thinking about when I could be discharged.
After changing the nutrient solution, the nurse was about to leave. I asked softly, “Do you know when I can be discharged?”

paused for a moment and then turned to examine the medical record hanging at the end of my bed.
“Mr. Palmer, you can’t leave the hospital for at least another two weeks. You should stay here and rest.”
lied to stay here for two weeks?
- thank you.”
“It’s part of our job.” The nurse smiled gently before turning and leaving the room.
The following days seemed to pass quickly. Before I knew it, live days had passed.
Sophia visited me in my ward every day during these five days, just like before. The only difference was that during these five days, she frequently attended to phour calls
