Chapter 27
Sophia sighed helplessly as she looked out the car window at the green leaves.
Jayden had told her that Joshua’s condition was very serious. While it might not be immediately obvious, once his illness flared up, the cancer cells would multiply rapidly, shortening his life.
Right now, the most important thing for him was to take good care of his body and try to maintain a positive mood.
Edison didn’t respond to her comments. Instead, he repeatedly turned to look at her.
Finally, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you keep looking at me? Is there something you want to say?”
He was driving toward her villa After a long silence, he finally spoke. “Sophie, I talked to a friend at Central Hospital about Joshua’s condition. My friend
said that foshua is enduring so much pain because the hospital he’s at doesn’t have a professional medical team to treat him.
“If he could transfer to a hospital with a top–tier medical team, the treatment would do him great. What do you think?”
“Transfer Joshua to a better hospital?” she thought.
Sophia bit her bottom lip and remained silent, quietly weighing the possibility in her mind.
She hadn’t considered transferring him before, partly because Phillip had been managing his condition well and partly because she couldn’t always be by his side to care for him. With Jayden at this hospital, she felt that Joshua was in good hands.
“Sophie, why are you so quiet? Did I say something wrong, or…”
Edison’s words trailed off, but the anxiety in his voice revealed his growing unease
She turned to look at him, offering a gentle reassurance. “No, you’re right. It’s just that finding a top medical team isn’t easy. At this hospital, Dr. Cowell and Dr. Caddel know his condition well, so they can treat him effectively.”
He nodded in agreement but then tilted his head, looking at her. “But maybe a top–tier medical team could help Joshua recover even faster.”
He couldn’t help adding more fuel to the fire. “If I were him, being stuck in the hospital because of my illness, I would feel down.”
She lowered her eyes, her expression full of complex emotions
She thought about how Joshua loved the company he created and put so much effort into growing each of his clients and making them well–knownL But with his current condition, he could no longer work.
During the time he was in a coma, she had gone to see Phillip and asked how long it would take for Joshua to recover fully.
He told her that terminal cancer was a battle with death. He couldn’t guarantee that Joshua would fully recover, but as long as he followed the treatment, he could live another three to five years.
Edison waited in silence, but a flicker of emotion crossed his eyes when he didn’t hear Sophia speak. He feigned concern and called out, “Sophie?”
“I think you’re right. I’ll have my assistant start investigating which domestic and foreign hospitals have specialized teams focused on cancer treatment. I won’t let Joshua die.”
Her words finally calmed his nervous heart.
Joshua was clearly a huge threat to him, and he decided to take action at that moment.
at Sophi
Edison tightened his grip on the steering wheel, pulling over to the side of the road. He turned to look at Sophia in the passenger seat with a serious expression
“Sophie, let me take care of finding a top medical team for Joshua, okay?”
