In sickness and in spite Chapter 24

Chapter 24

In my memory, my mother had always been someone whose presence didn’t matter much

During the three years I was married to Sophia, or rather, since I became independent and grew up, she only contacted me when she needed money. She

never cared about me

She seemed different from most other mothersshe only cared about herself

I had thought Jayden was just trying to cheer me up with his words, but I never expected that my mother had really come to see me

Mrs. Palmer did visit. She cried a lot when she came.”

I was briefly shocked but smiled and said, Maybe it’s because I was about to die, and suddenly, everyone around me has turned into a good person. You won’t die. As long as you cooperate with the treatment, there’s still a chance for recovery.”

Jayden’s voice was heavy, as if he was trying to convince both himself and me

In the end, I didn’t argue with him. I just smiled and said, Don’t worry. I’ll follow the doctor’s treatment plan and stay positive.”

He nodded. After a long pause, he couldn’t resist asking the question on his mind. Joshua, do you still want to divorce Sophia?”

Would 1 divorce Sophia? Honestly, I didn’t know

Sophia was the beautiful thing I had wanted for over ten years but could never have. I longed for her kindness, but I knew we couldn’t go back to the past. She still didn’t believe that I didn’t kill Edson, she continued to doubt me

I could understand why she wouldn’t easily believe me, but it made me wonderwas her current kindness toward me out of guilt and an attempt to make up for the past

From the moment I woke up to when she fed me soup, I felt like I was in a dream. For a brief moment, I felt we could smooth over all our past issues and live a good life together

But that wasn’t possible. I couldn’t deceive my own heart

I knew that she was still the same person. We couldn’t divorce. Once I brought it up, I would have to face everything that came with it, and the result would be the same

Since the outcome would be the same, why

hy would I repeat it

I was tired and didn’t want to keep struggling with her. I figured I would pretend everything was harmonious and live this way, even if just to fool myself

gaze again, I clearly saw the dark circles under Jayden’s eyes

I knew what I was about to s might disappoint him, but I had no other choice

I don’t want to divorce Sophia. Jayden, I don’t know how much longer I live, but in the last stretch of my life, I hope I can continue living like I am

He remained silent

After a long time, he stood up, looked out the window, and smiled, Joshua, it’s okay. As long as it’s your choice, I’ll respect it.”

When he left the ward, he bumped into Juliette outside

She met his complicated

Paze and sneered Jayden

have to accept that there are fools in this world who never learn from their mistakes

”

After saying this, she turned and left

Jayden stood there, watching her slowly walk away, letting out a helpless sigh

If he had done everything he could to stop our marriage from the beginning, would our outcome be different now

After Jayden left the room, I spent a long time thinking about many things, and eventually, I gathered the courage to call my mother
