Dalena’s mother stepped out of a sleek Maybach, her brows knitted in frustration.
“Dalena, the company’s finances are in serious trouble, and you still have time to chase after him?
“Mom, 1…”
“Enough. Go back and deal with the mess. Leave this to me.”
She ushered Dalena and Cyril away, then entered the restaurant alone,
paying for Dmitry’s table.
“Dmitry, it’s been a while,” she greeted without unnecessary pleasantries, sliding a check for 5 million dollars across the table. “You can see how things are now. Dalena and Cyril can’t do without you”
“If you agree, I’ll give you 5 million dollars every year moving forward.”
Hearing this, Dmitry suddenly laughed.
He had guessed it right–Dalena’s mother always prioritized her daughter above all else.
Even now, she acted as if exploitation was a favor, her words dripping with condescension.
She had never cared about Dmitry as a person, treating him as a disposable tool, just like Dalena
“Sorry, ma’am
“Dimitry said, pushing the check back to her. He casually wrote his own check for 5 million dollars.
“We owe each other nothing now. If that’s not enough for you, I’ll even return the 5 million dollars you gave me before.”
“If it hadn’t been for the Brown Family, I would’ve earned that 5 million dollars even faster and gained control of my life sooner.”
Dalena’s mother was momentarily stunned.
She refused to accept these harsh truths or allow Dmitry to defy her.
“What’s this attitude? I’ve been more than generous with you,” she said coldly. “As long as you remain in New York, don’t think you can escape the Brown Family’s grasp so easily.”
Ar this, Caroline stood up sharply. “Are you threatening Dmitry? The Brown Family sure has a way with people.”
Dalena’s mother was livid. Thinking of her daughter’s heartbreak, she wanted nothing more than to drag Dmitry away immediately.
Sensing the tension, Caroline stepped in front of Dmitry with an unexpected fierceness.
But before anything escalated, bodyguards rushed in and escorted Dalena’s mother out of the restaurant.
Ar the Brown Family Estate
“Ms. Dalena, bad news! Someone has submitted extensive evidence accusing us of tax fraud. We’re facing fines worth hundreds of millions!”
“The board is in chaos, and all the shareholders are causing a scene. What should we do?”
Hearing the report, Dalena froze.
She never expected such a major crisis to hit the company, Paniclding, she tried to handle the situation but was clueless after being out of touch with the business for a year.
As the sat there, overwhelmed, a text message popped up on her phone–in
phone–from Fabio.
[Dalena,}
, you cost me my hand for Dmitry. Now it’s time for payback!]
Transfer 20 million dollars to me immediately, or I’ll release more dirt on the Brown Group and tank your stock prices oven further!]
Dalena suddenly realized the truth–her close dealings with Fabrio in the past had led to leaked secrets.
She never imagined he would him against her so viciously.
Regret hit her like a tidal wave She cursed herself for trusting such a scoundrel, giving him leverage against her.
Compared to Dimitry’s selflessness, Fabio was utterly worthless.
“I’m so stupid! Why didn’t I cherish the person who truly cared for me?”
Delene collapsed to the ground, feeling like her world was falling apart.
The once glorious CEO of New York, with a perfect family and thriving career, had now hit rock bottom.
“Get up, you useless loo]]”
A flanderous voice rang out, and everyone lis the villa instantly stood at attention
Dalena’s father entered, his lace grin. He gestured for the bodyguards to help her mother to the sofa. “Dad, you you’re back!” Dalenia starnuuered, her eyes wide withi sluck.
