Chapter 14

Violet’s POV

“Violet, wait,” I heard Ryan say as ran out of the room.

Why did I let him kiss me like that?

I decided to go back to the room where Sofia was watching tv with the other children. I was so deep in thought that I bumped into someone. Before I could fall on the floor, someone grabbed onto me so I wouldn’t fall.

“Are you okay?” I looked up to see a guy around twenty standing there. He had brown hair and hazel eyes and was tall and muscular. He was attractive but not as attractive as Ryan. I didn’t know why I was comparing this guy to Ryan.

“Wow, you should be careful,” the guy said

“I am sorry. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going,” I replied.

“There you are, V. I have been looking for you,” Emily said and looked at the guy. “Hi Tyson, what are you two talking about?” Emily asked

“Nothing, really. She ran into me while she was walking,” Tyson said

“Yeah, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going,” I added. “Well, we have some stuff to do. Bye, Tyson,” Emily said

“Bye,” I said to Tyson.

“Bye. Oh, and be careful. We don’t want a beautiful girl like your getting hurt.”

“You need to stay away from him. He isn’t a good guy,” Emily said.

“What do you mean?” I asked

“He isn’t good to women. Just trust me. You don’t want anything to do with him,” Emily said with a serious expression. on her face.

“I trust you, Emily. Besides, I am not interested in being in a relationship with him. I don’t even know him,” I said seriously. wasn’t lying. I wasn’t interested in Tyson romantically.

“Come on. Jane is waiting for us by the pool.”

“I was about to check on Sofia,” I said

“I already did. My mom and one of her friends are going to take Sofia and some of the other pups, um, I mean children, to the park,” Emily said

“Oh, okay,” I replied

“My mom is happy you let her around Sofia. She misses when Ryan and I were that young,” Emily said. We made it outside and sat at the table by Jane.

“So what are we deciding to do the project on?” I asked

“I think we should create a restaurant because it won’t take as long to make a plan. If we do it in a modeling business. We

would have to do more work we don’t have time to do,” Emily said

“I think that’s a good idea,” I replied and looked at Jane. “I am sorry, Jane, but I don’t think we would have time to do our project on modeling or would get a bad grade,” I said

“I guess you are right,” Jane replied. I could tell she wasn’t happy we weren’t going to do our project on what she wanted, but we really didn’t have the time to do it. We began making our business plan, and thankfully Jane and Emily weren’t arguing.

“How is it going,” Traci said as she walked outside. Sofia was holding her hand as she came toward us.

“It’s going good,” Emily said.

“You should take a break. You have been working for hours.”

“I think you are right. We can continue where we left off tomorrow in class,” Emily said.

“Come on, Sofia. Let’s get you some cookies,” Traci said, and they walked into the house.

“The Lu… I mean, Ms. Traci must really like your little sister. It must be nice to have someone take her off your hands. I am sure it is frustrating taking care of a toddler,” Jane said

“No. I could never get tired of Sof. She will always come first,” I replied. I didn’t like how she talked about Sofia being a burden to me or something. Sofia would never be a burden in my eyes. She was the only family I had.

to take care of a child. You must be very strong and caring to do it,” Jane said. I began to feel bad for snapping at her.

“Yeah, thanks. That was a very nice thing to say,” I replied

“I had a question. Why are you in our class? You are two years ahead of us in college. You should have already passed the class,” Emily asked. I looked at Jane to see her glare at Emily.

“I failed it at my old school and needed to take it again. that is why I transferred,” Jane replied. It seemed like a logical answer

to me.

“Sure,” Emily said.

“Well, I have something else to do. I will see you two later,” Jane said and walked into the house.

“You don’t need to be so rude to her,” I said

“I told you she is up to something. I don’t trust her.”

“Are you leaving already?” I looked up to see Ryan walking over to us. I hadn’t seen him since the kiss. Emily said he does some sort of training throughout the day. She said her parents own a family business, and Ryan will soon take over.

“Yeah, we have class tomorrow,” Emily said

“Well, I wish you could stay tonight,” Ryan said, looking at me with a sad expression on his face. I could tell he was really sad we were leaving.

“Sorry, but we don’t want to drive to school from here. Our h me is closer,” Emily said
