Chapter 92
“Doctor, please save me!” Xenia exclaimed as she rushed toward Leroy, gripping his arm with urgency. In an instant, his pristine white coat was stained with blood
Cedric urged, “You have to see Lettie first. You can attend to this woman afterward.‘
After that, he prepared to pull Leroy away. However, Leroy looked back at Zoe and instructed, “Prepare the stretcher and begin the treatment.”
The moment his command was issued, those around his sprang into action. Cedric was quickly pushed aside. Although dissatisfaction flickered in his eyes, witnessing Leroy’s intense focus immediately eased his frustration.
While the others were occupied, Cedric returned to the ward.
Scarlett continued to endure the pain, each breath sending a sharp stab through her. Noticing Cedric’s disappointed expression, Scarlett feigned a sense of calm.” What’s happening outside? Why is it so noisy?”
Cedric sighed and took a seat. “It’s because of Leroy. He promised to checkon you but saw another patient instead, making you wait. He clearly doesn’t care. I think be never took you seriously all along.”
Scarlett frowned. “Perhaps the patient’s condition is more critical. Cedric, if you have nothing pressing to attend to here, you should go home first. I’m concerned that Mrs. Reid might feel lonely without you.”
Cedric’s eyes reflected a deep sense of disappointment, and a heavy sigh escaped his lips. “Lettie, are you trying to drive me away?
“Lettie, I get it. Did I do something that upset you? Otherwise, why are you avoiding me? Or have you been misled by someone else?” He voiced his thoughts
directly to her.
Scarlett replied, “I wasn’t misled. Too much has happened lately, and 1 still have to deal with the board. I’m feeling drained.”
Scarlett ultimately chose not to reveal the truth. She remained skeptical about the photos and felt compelled to conduct her own investigation.
Cedric was initially disappointed but quickly smiled again. “Lettie, I respect your choice. If you need anything, just let me know.”
Then, he left with a heavy heart.
Scarlett sighed as the ward door closed. She felt that the situation was too surreal. She believed that Cedric had always loved her
Cedric stood outside the ward, a smile lighting up his face. “Scarlett, I’m eager to see if you’ll still waver like this after witnessing Leroy’s miserable state.”
He glanced up just in time to catch a glimpse of Xenia being taken to the next ward.
Leroy had changed his clothes. The operation was so simple that even Zoe could manage it. Now, all that remained was to wait for the patient to regain consciousness and settle the bill.
Cedric remained outside the ward. A smirk played on his lips, and his eyes held a mocking glint. He remarked, “Dr. Olson, you’re incredibly busy, but you must be more cautious. If the person you’ve rescued decides to turn against you, it could spell trouble.”
Zoe retorted, “Not everyone behaves like you do.”
Cedric simply smiled. “Ms. Black, I’m doing this for the sake of your hospital. I’ve witnessed similar situations many times before. Look at that woman’s behavior.
She may not even acknowledge it after you save her.”
Zoe grew more anxious. Cedric had never been one to do anything out of the goodness of his heart.
She said, “Mr. Olson, don’t be fooled. Let’s ignore people like him.“”
