Chapter 40

Everyone’s attention is on Dawn and Evelyn who are just standing silently. Dawn seems to have taken aback by Diego’s sudden coldness. The moment she notices his expression is different when he looks at her and the twins, she felt the sense of abandonment.

Since the awkwardness is palpable in the air, Clint cleans his throat and gets everyone’s attention. Evelyn hasn’t even talked to anyone except for Spencer. So, Nobody is actually aware of their relationship. But they can have a guess the relationship between them.

“Everyone! Let’s celebrate the birthday party of Simon and gives him a good memory!” Clint grins trying to ease the

situation.

But he gets a glare from his daughter who isn’t pleased with him,

They could have just had a talk instead of throwing each other in such an awkward situation.

Meanwhile, the kids have noticed the sadness of the girl. Bryan who is trying to make a conversation with her, looks at Scarlet to create a chance for him to play with her.

Scarlet shakes her head, and looks at Dawn.

Grabbing a chocolate muffin, she walks towards Dawn and smiles, “Wanna play with us?”

Dawn who is in the verge of crying, looks at the twins and Matt who is standing behind them with same expectations. Dawn wants to hate them but when Scarlet holds her favorite muffin before her, she starts crying silently.

“Why are you two calling my Daddy Papa? He isn’t your papa. He is my papa!”

The twins share a glance at each other before they hold her hand, “Let’s go play. Don’t cry.”

Spencer who has been sitting on a chair, distancing himself from others, looks at the kids who are running toward an empty

room.

He stands up, realizing, the tension of the adult may lead them neglecting the kids. Also the allergic occurrence has given

He silently follows the kids, just to ensure they don’t run here and there alone.

As he stands outside while the kids enter the room, his attention immediately goes to Dawn’s voice.

“Give my Daddy back. Don’t call my Daddy, Papa!” She starts crying loudly right now. As if she has been holding herself in front of her mother.

The twins share another conflicted expression and let her sit.

“He isn’t our Papa!” Scarlet exposed.

“What?” Dawn looks at Scarlet with wide open eyes. So does Spencer who thought the kids didn’t know anything.

That’s true. He isn’t our Real Papa. We call him Papa!”

“Wh–Why? Why do you call Daddy Papa?”

Don’t know! We have our own Papa!” Scarlet adds, “The most handsome uncle outside is our Papa!”

Spencer clenches his jaw with his widely opened eyes. Here he is thinking of distancing himself from them, and they are always aware of his identity as their father.

Unable to hold himself, he just remains silent and sits on the floor. His fingers run through his hair as he keeps listening to the kids‘ conversation.

“Why aren’t you calling your Papa, Papa? Why are you calling him uncle?” Dawn, who is desperate to get back her father, asks with tears streaming down her cherry red face.

“Because,” Scarlet and Bryan both become silent since they can’t process any reasons. Since the beginning, both of them have just called Diego Papa. So there is no specific reason for them.

“We like to play with him! That’s why!” Scarlet responds immediately.

“I want to play with Papa too! Wahhhh!!!”

Spencer sighs deeply and stands up. Dawn has started crying more and more. If this continues, they’ll end up fighting.

He clenches his fist, realizing he has a lot to catch up.

Kids! Are you there?” He knocks on the door, acting like he doesn’t know what they’re doing.

“It’s papa! Our Papa!” Bryan exclaims and runs towards the door.

Scarlet holds Dawn’s hand and wipes the tears. ” Don’t cry. We won’t take

“Yes. We will play together!”

Meanwhile, Bryan opens the door for Spencer who is standing before him.

“Hello, Uncle!”

It fe like a stab when he calls him Uncle but Spencer smiles in response, “Don’t go anywhere without telling the Adults. Have you all made up already? If not, shall we go somewhere else?”

He grins playfully, holding his phone.

“What is it?” Scarlet soon follows Bryan with Dawn.

Spencer gets on his knees and shows them the booking of an amusement park on the fifth floor’s rooftop. “Amusement

Bryan, Matt and Dawn’s eyes spark with excitement and anticipation. However Scarlet frowns narrowly,

“You just said we need to tell an adult. Our responsible adult is my mother and Papa. We should ask their opinion before going with you, a total stranger!”

Spencer is taken aback by her cold words. Even Dawn and Bryan look confused since she was proudly telling Dawn about their father.

Spencer gives a tight–lipped smile before nodding, “That’s a wise decision. How about me asking for permission? Will it be alright?”

“Yes! In front of us though! What if you lie!?” She said, her tone firm.

“Scarlet?” Bryan gritted out, unable to understand his twin sister

“That’s a wise and reasonable idea.” He smiles and lifts Scarlet who blushes immediately.

“Let’s see what they say. We must take permission!”

Bryan pouts out of jealousy to see that he is holding Scarlet only

Dawn notices him sulking and holds his hand, “Let’s go to the amusement Park.”

Bryan blushes and nods constantly, forgetting the jealousy he felt earlier.

Meanwhile,

Diego can’t help but grit out with irritation and annoyance. To add more frustration in his anger, Benedetta seems to have shown no interest in this situation. Not even a slightest jealousy.

“Whose kid is it?” Diego asks, trying to not shout at Evelyn who seems to have been so firm and cold.

“Why do you ask?” She replies with another question.

“Are you trying to mess with me? That child is clearly looking like me!”

“I don’t think you only exist in the Scared Moon Family? The Arrogance of Vine hill is really amazing!” She scoffs as she

states.

However, her eyes widen in shock when his rough hand reaches to her neck, almost squeezing her, ” Did you sleep with my brother before mating with me?” He asks, trying to control his Aura that is surging around him.

Evelyn looks at him with amusement and scoffs, “What if I am? Do you have any problems with that? You should know he has always been the best –?”

Evelyn’s eyes fixed on Diego’s hand as he formed a fist to punch him. However she doesn’t even move, not even use her power to stop him.

Seeing her being so unhinged, he releases his fingers and leaves her as well.

“Baby trap?” She scoffs as she fixes her dress,

“I am here to call off the engagement. Your mother has told me to reconsider the relationship between me and your brother. Obviously, she wants him to be Alpha. I don’t know what you want but – This is your last chance. At least to get that Lycan Princess as your woman, you should have a similar position to ask her hand!”

Diego pauses when she says that. He looks at her with a dangerous expression, “What are you trying to imply?”

“Reject me. I will leave with my daughter away from this pack. You can get your position as Alpha and it will obviously favor you to be with that woman! I know she holds no feelings for you. But you can at least try since her ex–husband seems to have a Luna.”

“You want me to reject you, here?” He asks in disbelief.

“Yes! Any problems with that? The bond has been weakened for a long time: It’s not like I am dying or whatever!” She asks in a tone of mockery.

think you can get through it here?”

“Why do you care about it? I could give birth to a child, I could raise it alone. It doesn’t matter if I can get free from this toxic bond!“

Diego gritted out as he looked at her determined eyes… ” I am not going to!”

What? Why? Let me go already!”

“No. Since you dare to seduce another man who I hate more than anything in this world, you should pay for the consequences!“.

Consequences?” Evelyn laughs hysterically as she looks at him, straight in his eyes, ” Fine, let’s see who faces the consequences. Your daughter will know that – You are NOT her dearest Daddy!”
