We could no longer bear to listen to Erika’s frantic ramblings, and everyone began to get up
and leave.
Seeing this, Erika panicked. She scrambled to her feet and rushed towards Collin. She c have nothing left. You’re all I have now. Please, don’t abandon me!”
clung to his legs and pleaded, “Collin, don’t leave me! 1
Her voice was hoarse from the overwhelming emotion.
However, Collin showed no sympathy. He glanced at her with a look of disgust and pushed her away with force.
Erika stumbled and fell to the ground. Collin didn’t even look at her as he walked straight to me and grabbed my arms.
“Jessie, I was wrong. I was truly deceived by that woman. Please forgive me. I’m sorry. Can we start over?”
Looking at Collin’s répulsive expression, I felt a mix of anger and amusement. If he could stand by Erika through all of this, maybe I would have thought more highly of him.
My parents were even angrier than I was and had someone give him a good beating.
My dad, fuming with rage, shouted, “We don’t need someone like you in our company! Don’t ever come back to work again!”
Lexpected Eriko to cling to Collin and beg him not to leave but surprisingly she didn’t.
It turned out that Collin had reported Erika to the police, claiming that she had attacked him at the hospital. When the police arrived, they found Erika in a disoriented state, crying and laughing uncontrollably. She looked like a mentally unstable woman, so they followed Collin’s accusations and took her away to a psychiatric facility.
The next day, Collin showed up at my office with a large bouquet of flowers. When he saw me, he quickly approached me and said, “Jessie, can we start over? I was wrong before. I was deceived by that woman. But trust me, I’ve learned my lesson and completely changed. Please,
give me another chance to make things right with you.”
As he spoke, he knelt dramatically and pulled out a shiny ring, raising it high in front of me.
