I started to calm down, I started telling him.
the story of my song.
<
Even the meaning behind it.
For some reason, Liam’s voice sounded tense
when he was translating.
Even hesitant.
I looked at him, puzzled, but he just raised an
eyebrow, telling me to keep going.
Tiffany’s face was getting paler by the
minute.
People started turning against her. Some
things I said, like how I changed the melody, it
all sounded so personal.
Tiffany didn’t have a clue about those
changes.
<
“So, Chloe is actually the songwriter?”
“So, Tiffany really stole her song? Oh my
god.”
“Stole? What? This is a robbery, an open
theft.”
After Liam translated my last sentence, he said, “Chloe would like Tiffany to apologize,
return the ownership of the song, and drop out of the competition.”
Tiffany still stared at us. “I didn’t. I didn’t
steal her song. This is my song.”
She sobbed, all sad and innocent.
The school officials finally got involved. “If we
cannot figure out who made the song, then
we need evidence. Let’s release the original
manuscript.”
I grabbed Liam’s sleeve. “It’s in my dorm, the
manuscript is in my dorm.”
He reassured me, “Okay, I’ll go get it with
you.
Before he could even say the word, Jake
stepped up, handing a stack of papers to her.
“This is my manuscript. I wrote this song
when my favorite person, Jake, was beside
- me. He can prove it.”
The papers fluttered in her hand, and I saw
clearly, the handwriting on the top page.
It was Tiffany’s.
<
Jake didn’t dare look at me, but he stared at
Tiffany.
“Why?” I yelled. I couldn’t speak, but Jake
understood what I was saying.
He looked away.
I trusted him so much, I even showed him my
manuscript.
There was only one way, he took a picture
and sent it to Tiffany.
Tiffany had stolen it all, from start to finish.
This song theft, had been planned for a long
time.
