Chapter 17
Natalie soon fainted due to excessive blood loss.
Fabian remained coldly indifferent, showing not the slightest hint of concern. The only of emotion came when Natalie exposed the deepest truth he was unwilling to face, at momentary flash of discomfort.

From the messages Angelina had sent him, Fabian already knew that Angelina had learned about his affair before Natalie’s provocative words.
Yet Fabian was determined to shoulder his own guilt by personally apologizing to Angelina. Natalie, however, as the “instigator,” was not going to escape blame.
The housekeeper, trembling with fear, made a call, and soon Madam Carnegie and an ambulance arrived at the villa.
Mr. Carnegie followed closely behind. Upon seeing the bloodstains all over the villa, he was so enraged that he slapped Fabian across the face.
“You bastard! As if the recent scandals weren’t enough, now you want Natalie and her unborn children dead too?”
Fabian’s face swelled from the slap, but he showed no remorse for his actions.
“She’s just a kept woman. What right does she have to compete with Angelina? This is the punishment she deserves.”
He only wanted children with Angelina–no one else mattered.
“Angelina must have left me because she was angry that Natalie got pregnant. Now that the child is gone, she’ll calm down…”
The Carnegies were so furious at Fabian’s delusion that they nearly fainted.
Madam Carnegie eventually forced Fabian to accompany her to the hospital.
Before leaving, she sternly warned the housekeeper not to breathe a word about what had happened.
However, the villa was located in a high–profile Boston neighborhood, and it was unlikely that no one had noticed the commotion.
Worse still, the unresolved situation with Natalie added another layer of complexity.
Any misstep in handling these matters could deal a devastating blow to the already precarious Carnegie Group.
When they arrived at the hospital, they were informed that neither of Natalie’s unborn children had survived.
Additionally, due to the severe blood loss and potential damage caused during the procedure, Natalie might never be able to have children of her own again.
When Natalie regained consciousness and learned the news, she broke down, screaming that she wanted to call the police.
It took Madam Carnegie a long time to calm her down.
Fabian, impatient and indifferent, stayed at the hospital for less than half an hour before leaving. He didn’t care whether Madam Carnegie used coercion or persuasion to deal with Natalie.
All he cared about now was finding Angelina, apologizing to her in person, and telling her how much he missed her.
Fabian returned to his cold and empty home, which he had meticulously restored to the way it looked before Angelina left. But it no longer carried her presence.
He mechanically prepared two bowls of noodles, placing them exactly as they had been on the night before she left.
Then, he opened a bottle of wine and sat across from the empty seat.
“Angelina, I made your favorite noodles again. Today, I even punished Natalie. Her pregnancy is no longer a problem. But when will you forgive me? When will you come back to me?”
Fabian poured bottle after bottle of wine into himself, trying to numb the pain.
Taking out his battered phone, its screen shattered beyond recognition, he opened his chat with Angelina. He read through the messages they had once exchanged, one by one.
How wonderful it would be if nothing had ever changed.
As he scrolled, Fabian’s mind returned to the messages Angelina had sent him. Among them were several intimate photos of him with Natalie.
He could only imagine how heartbroken Angelina must have been when she saw them.
Fabian’s breath hitched, and he suddenly clutched his chest, struggling to breathe.
Since Angelina left, aside from the one time he fainted, he hadn’t had a single restful night.
Even though he had rearranged the house to look as if Angelina had never left, it was all just a
facade:
