Chapter 16
Natalie’s joyful expression froze instantly, and the terror in her eyes was laid bare before Fabian, making her appear utterly ridiculous.
Despite the heat of midsummer, goosebumps rose on Natalie’s skin.
Having experienced Fabian’s madness for Angelina twice, Natalie knew just how terrifying he could be. She never wanted to face it a third time.
Forcing herself to look innocent and harmless, Natalie tried her best to keep Fabian from finding out she had sent those messages to Angelina. Thankfully, she had already deleted the chat history.
Steadying her trembling body, Natalie spoke calmly.
“Fabian, what are you talking about? I haven’t been in contact with Angelina. Whatever she knows about us… she must have heard it from someone else.”
Fabian grabbed Natalie’s wrist and snatched her phone.
Opening Whatsapp, he saw that not only were the provocative messages he had seen earlier. gone, but Angelina wasn’t even listed as a contact in Natalie’s address book.
Feigning composure, Natalie retrieved her phone, though her voice betrayed her trembling
nerves.
“See, I told you. How could I possibly…”
Fabian interrupted her with a cold sneer, yanking her up by her wrist.
“Natalie, do you really think I’d believe your half–hearted explanations?”
“Do you think I’d come to you now without evidence?”
Fabian shoved the forwarded chat logs from Angelina into Natalie’s face.
Her expression turned deathly pale in an instant.
Only the tips of her toes touched the ground as she dangled precariously. Behind her was the staircase–if Fabian let go, she would tumble down.
Tears streamed down Natalie’s face as she sobbed and pleaded.
“Fabian, please let me stand properly. I’m carrying your child…”
“I didn’t mean to say those things. I was just jealous of Angelina. I couldn’t bear to see you marry someone else. But it’s all because I love you so much, Fabian. Please, just this once,
forgive me.”
With her free hand, Natalie clung tightly to Fabian’s wrist, terrified that he might let

drop her without a second thought.
Fabian’s gaze remained unmoved, cold as he looked down at the pleading Natalie as if she were already dead.
“Couldn’t you just enjoy everything you already had? But no, you had to be greedy, trying to push Angelina away to take her place. Now, you’re destined to lose everything.”
To Natalie’s shock, Fabian lifted his other hand and began prying her fingers off his wrist, one by one.
“Angelina’s gone. What makes you think you still have the right to carry my child?”
Natalie’s lips trembled with fear. The housekeeper, who had opened the door earlier, stood frozen in panic.
Seeing her, Natalie screamed desperately, “Call Madam! Quick!”
“Fabian, my pregnancy was confirmed by your parents! You can’t do this to me!”
Her threats were futile. Fabian peeled away her fingers one by one..
With a forceful shove, he pushed Natalie away, coldly watching as she tumbled down the
staircase.
The fall seemed to stretch into an eternity. Though Natalie instinctively shielded her stomach with her hands, by the time her body came to a stop, the stairs and her clothes were stained with blood.
Unlike the minor pain and bleeding she’d experienced on their wedding day, this time the feeling of two lives slipping away from her body shattered Natalie completely.
She screamed uncontrollably, muttering about the children as if in a trance.
Looking up, she saw Fabian standing at the top of the stairs, indifferent and detached.
Hatred filled Natalie, overwhelming the last traces of her sanity.
“Fabian, you’re nothing but a coward!”
“Angelina’s gone, and you’ve pinned all the blame on me. But what did I do wrong? Before I sent those messages to her, she already knew about your affair!”
“In the end, it’s because you couldn’t control yourself. You claim to love Angelina more than your own life, but your so–called love is a joke. No wonder she left, making sure I became the bride instead just to spite you!”
“But you
killed our child with your own hands, Fabian. You’ll end up with nothing..
