Chapter 7
On the drive back, Fabian’s phone kept lighting up with notifications.
He waited until Angelina wasn’t paying attention before checking his messages.
It was Natalie.
[Natalie]: Fabian, what do you think we should name our baby? Can you come over tonight to help me decide?
Fabian frowned as he typed a warning in reply:
[Fabian]: We’ll talk about names later. Don’t make vague, suggestive comments in front of Angelina again. If she finds out about us, you won’t want to face the consequences!
Despite his firm words, Angelina could tell from his more relaxed demeanor that he wasn’t entirely averse to the idea of Natalie being pregnant.
After all, Fabian had told her long ago how much he loved children.
Angelina noticed her own phone light up as well. It was a friend request from Natalie.
Knowing it was meant to provoke her, Angelina still chose to accept it.
The moment she approved the request, Natalie’s message came through.
[Natalie]: Aren’t you curious who the father of my child is? I don’t believe you’re so oblivious that you haven’t noticed how close Fabian is to me.
It was clear Natalie was waiting for a reaction, as no further messages followed for several
minutes.
Angelina stared at the message without replying.
She already knew the answer, and with her decision to leave made, there was no point in confronting her in a fit of rage.
When her silence dragged on, Natalie couldn’t resist sending another message.
This time, it was a picture of her and Fabian’s marriage certificate. Angelina had already seen. it on Fabian’s computer. Now, looking at it again, she felt none of the initial shock or pain.
[Natalie]: Angelina, the one legally married to Fabian is me. Even if you’re about to have at wedding, I’m his lawful wife. As long as I don’t agree to a divorce, you’ll always be beneath me. And now that I’m carrying his twins, we’re tied together forever.
[Natalie]: You have no idea how much he loves me. He spends time with me almost and he’s told many people about me. Don’t you feel pathetic, hearing others praise how much Fabian cares for you when they’re actually mocking you?
every day,
[Natalie]: Remember the dress I wore to the charity banquet? Fabian had it custom–made for me at great expense. Has he ever treated you that way?
[Natalie]: You can’t imagine how much he enjoys being with me. A boring woman like you. could never hold his interest. He likes women who know how to please him in bed–like me.
Natalie proceeded to send multiple photos of herself and Fabian in intimate moments.
Seeing Natalie flaunt herself so arrogantly, Angelina felt nothing but cold disdain.
“What are you looking at so intently?”
Fabian’s sudden voice pulled Angelina out of her thoughts.
She turned off her phone and shook her head, saying nothing.
Fabian glanced at her calm expression, and a deep sense of unease began to build within him, as though something precious was slipping out of his grasp.
He reached over to hold her hand tightly against his thigh, his grip firm.
Angelina instinctively resisted but, realizing she couldn’t pull free, let him hold her hand. while leaning back in her seat with her eyes closed, pretending to nap.
Feeling the softness of her hand relax in his, Fabian took a deep breath, his inner turmoil. easing slightly.
In the days that followed, Fabian claimed he was busy with work leading up to the wedding. and was away from home both day and night.
Angelina didn’t bother to investigate his whereabouts, but Natalie was more than happy to deliver updates directly to her.
Fabian’s supposed work commitments were just a cover for spending time with Natalie.
They visited baby stores together, shopping for items for the twins, whose genders were still unknown.
Natalie sent photos of Fabian carefully picking out baby names, as well as one of him resting his head on her belly.
[Natalie]: Fabian has been with me these past few days. I’m sure he told you he was busy with work, right? It’s a pity you can’t see for yourself how much he cares for me and the babies.
[Natalie]: Do you think he’ll ditch the wedding for me and the kids on the big day?
Angelina didn’t respond to her provocations.
After all, someone would indeed run away on the wedding day–but it wouldn’t be Fabian. It
would be her.
