Chapter 19
The woman was not Angelina at all, but Angelina’s half–sister, Bersa.
Mrs. Carnegie couldn’t bear to see Fabian drifting aimlessly every day, consumed by thoughts of Angelina, now living in a state somewhere between a human and a ghost.
She had tried everything, but nothing worked. Suddenly, she remembered that Angelina had a younger sister, three years her junior.
Angelina’s father had remarried after her mother passed away, but he had been having an affair long before his wife’s death and had a daughter from that affair–Bersa.
After obtaining a photo, Mrs. Carnegie saw that Bersa looked somewhat similar to Angelina and immediately made a decision.
She promised Bersa can benefit from Carnegie Family in exchange for allowing her to get
close to Fabian and help heal his broken heart.
But things backfired.
Bersa, warily watching Fabian, who was bleeding profusely, tried to leave, but he grabbed her tightly.
Fabian was no fool. After waking up, he looked at Bersa, who resembled Angelina to some extent, and quickly deduced what had happened.
“You’re Angelina’s sister, aren’t you? Call her. Whatever it takes, just get her to come back. Whatever you want, I’ll help you get it.”

Hearing this, Bersa rolled her eyes in disbelief.
“Why would you bother looking for someone who has no parents? What’s so special about
her?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the hand gripping Bersa’s wrist tightened violently, as if it was going to snap her bones.
Fabian’s eyes turned cold as he stared at Bersa, his voice a chilling warning.
“I won’t allow anyone to slander Angelina. If I hear one more word like that, I’ll kill you!”
Under Fabian’s threat, Bersa reluctantly dialed Angelina’s number.
The phone rang for a while before being answered, and Angelina’s voice, clearly irritated from being woken up, came through.
“Sister, it’s Bersa. Dad… Dad is seriously ill. He wants you to come and see him.”
Angelina on the other end of the line was silent for a full minute before she remembered who
Bersa was.
It had been so long since they had been in touch that Angelina was almost forgetting she had at father and a half–sister.
Her tone emotionless, she said, “I have nothing to do with your family anymore. Whether he lives or dies, it’s none of my business, and you don’t need to notify me.”
Bersa’s expression darkened, and the fake, gentle tone she had been using disappeared.
“No wonder Dad abandoned you, Angelina. You’re truly unlikeable. It’s no surprise that after he abandoned you, the Carnegie heir did too!”
At that, Angelina snapped out of her daze, her voice cold as she asked, “Did Fabian make you call me?”
Though it was a question, Angelina already knew the answer in her heart.
Bersa sneered, “So what if he did? Angelina, I can’t stand the way you are…

The phone was abruptly hung up with a loud click, not giving Bersa a chance to respond.
Because of the blood loss, Fabian was feeling icy all over. He could only muster enough strength to weakly say one sentence.
“Angelina, I never meant to abandon you…”
After the phone call ended, Fabian slipped into a coma from the excessive blood loss.
Bersa, who had originally planned to leave quietly, was scared by the possibility of him dying and ultimately contacted Mrs. Carnegie to save his life.
Now, in the hospital room, Fabian remained unconscious.
He had been asleep for two full days, and during this time, Mrs. Carnegie grew more and more anxious.
“Angelina…”
Just as Mrs. Carnegie thought Fabian might wake up, the doctor explained that what he had said was just subconscious behavior.
Angelina’s departure had become a psychological wound for Fabian.
Seeing how thin and unrecognizable Fabian had become, Mrs. Carnegie couldn’t hold back any longer. She collapsed beside his bed, crying uncontrollably.
