Chapter 48
The space between Avery and Joshua narrowed, so much that their noses almost brushed. The soft scent of jasmine from her made his lips curl into a smile, though he stubbornly said, “I’m not jealous.”
She nodded thoughtfully and continued, “Someone gave me a new watch the other day. I’ll wear it tomorrow.”
His expression harmed serious. “From now on, you’ll only wear the things I give you.”
Avery couldn’t help but laugh at his unreasonable demand. With a feigned innocent look, she tilted her head and asked, “Why?”
Without a word, he suddenly reached out, his fingers lightly tracing her delicate neck. The cool touch sent a shiver down her spine.
Seeing her reaction, he chuckled softly and leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper in her ear. “I don’t need a reason for anything I do,”
The challenge in his voice stirred something in Avery. Her competitive nature kicked in, and she stood up, moving over to sit on his lap. She casually wrapped her arms around his neck her body delicate and supple against his.
“Is that so? But I’m starting to think you might have made a mistake, Uncle Joshua.”
The playful glint in her eyes only darkened the expression in Joshua’s. Without warning, he grabbed the back of her neck and kissed her fiercely
Avery’s eyes widened in shock. She hadn’t expected him to kiss her like this out of nowhere. If she had known, she would have never provoked him.
The kiss was urgent and intense, the pressure of his lips overwhelming as he claimed her breath she struggled to break free, but he didn’t relent. His kiss was fierce, stealing her breath and leaving no room for resistance.
Weakness settled over her, and before she knew it, her tears spilled uncontrollably. In the haze of her emotions, she found herself looking into Joshua’s eyes. At that moment, she thought she saw her own image reflected back at her.

He gently brushed his fingers over her swollen lips, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “Do you dare do that again?”
She couldn’t speak. Instead, she shot him a glare, but with her flushed cheeks and still–tattled state, she looked adorable.
Ten minutes later, as she regained her composure, she looked around at the elegant surroundings and suddenly remembered where they were. She was s meal with him, but they ended up…
Her face tumed an even deeper shade of red, and she instinctively covered it with her hands. Seeing her like this, Joshua couldn’t hold back a laugh.

She was so shy and yet always the one to stir things up. She was so inexperienced, yet tried to act as if she knew what she was doing. Still, the way her face flushed made her all the more adorable.
Hearing his laughter only made her more embarrassed. She stood up to leave, but he quickly grabbed her arm.
“Didn’t you say you were going to treat me to a meal? You can’t just leave without eating”

His words hit their mark, and her face flushed once more. “Let go of me now.”
“Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself.”
