Chapter 261
Since Caleb took over the business, he had personally handled everything, but these directors never let him venture into important areas.
They now held him accountable for their lucrative business failure. It was simply making false accusations against him.
Logan went on. “The company recently decided to develop a new project that requires collaboration with foreign capital. The company can expand overseas markets in ten years if the negotiations are successful.
The business requires foreign funding. We must boost our earnings.
“We require a trustworthy person to oversee such a big project. Chleb, you should be aware of the reason. for our meeting today by now.”
Logan lit a cigar in the conference room, smiled smugly, and blew out a thick smoke ring at Caleb.
Caleb remained seated in his chair, unfazed by this obvious provocation
Logan made an investment of 3 million dollars in the company when he first joined. His lackluster performance didn’t generate significant revenue for the business. But the board of directors would respect him simply because of that capital.
“It carries a very high risk to accept foreign investment. We are going to lose everything if the project fails. Those foreigners will ask us to invest more money than they will, refusing to take a significant risk. Caleb had dealt with foreigners before.
Foreign investors required assurance that they would profit handsomely from the financing even if the project suffered a loss, and to meet this requirement, the company had to make a substantial profit.
“How can you do business without taking risks, young man? You can’t tell how important this project is due to your limited. experience. There is an 80% chance of success as we have discussed it. If you don’t invest in it, other companies will. Then you will regret it.”
A balding man wearing gold–rimmed glasses snorted and looked at Caleb disdainfully.
“It could fail, even with a high chance of success. I can’t just let those foreign investors swallow this amount of money. I will vote against anyone prepared to give the fox money. Caleb had made it clear that he would not allow these boards to act unreasonably
Caleb understood that these directors had no intention of doing business with foreigners. They were more knowledgeable than he was and knew the guile of outsiders better than him.
Their bringing up this project was just a pretext to repress him and let him give in.
As long as he gave up this project, the rest of his business would be taken away, and ultimately, all his rights would be removed.
“Everyone on the board voted for it, and you’re the only one against it. Why bother?” Logan sneered and looked at Caleb as if he was a fool.
“It is useless for you to vote for this project as long as those foreigners do not choose our company even if you strongly. approve of it” Caleb’s eyes suddenly flashed a mysterious glow.
