Unexpectedly, just by watching the behind–the–scenes promo video, she felt even more blown away.
“Looks like these two products are going to owe their success to you; they’re gonna be even more popular,” Evelyn expressed, seemingly forgetting that Caleb was still recuperating in the hospital. She turned to Zoey. “Considering all the hard work you’ve put in these past few days, what would you like to eat? It’s on me.”
Without thinking too much, Zoey shook her head and said, “I don’t want to eat. Look at yourself. You have been tortured by that devil in the hospital. Aron and I are here to pick you up and take you back to have a rest. I have a villa by the sea. We will go there to have a rest for a few days and then come back. What do you think?”
“Don’t you have any work arrangements these days?” asked Evelyn. She had planned to go home to have a rest after dinner.
Zoey smiled easily and replied in a laid–back manner. “What work do I have lined up now? All I’m doing is waiting for the promo to drop in a couple of days, and then I get to ride on your coattails and make some cash, Evelyn. Meanwhile, I’m living the good life with you. Aron said he wants to cook for you personally. There’s no way I’m missing out on that.”
Evelyn took a look at Aron from the central rearview mirror in the car and threw all kinds of thoughts aside. She smiled and said. “Thank you for your hard work today. I’ll be your assistant.
Regardless of whether she had a moment of doubt, whether she felt like she didn’t truly know the person before her, deep down she was certain about one thing: ever since Aron had come back into her life, he’d never done anything to hurt her. If she harbored any bad thoughts about Aron, she knew they were unjustified.
Then I’ll just sit there and wait for the meal,” said Zoey calmly. Then, they stopped the car at a supermarket on the way to the seaside and went shopping.
“Evelyn. I’m going to buy some fruits over there. You and Aron can choose seafood here first,” said Zoey. In a twinkling of an eye, she disappeared from the crowd..
Before Evelyn came to her senses, she heard Aron’s voice again. “Are you curious about what I said to Caleb in the pavilion just now?” Hearing this, Evelyn was stunned. She thought it was normal that he knew what she was thinking. But she didn’t, know whether she should dig out the answer when Aron asked her this question.
“He didn’t say anything to me. I just asked him when he would leave the hospital. He asked me if I liked you and I admitted it. Then he asked me to take you out of the hospital, saying he’d sign the divorce agreement. Then we came up,” said Aron casually while selecting the fish for the fish soup later.
Yet, these words couldn’t help but stir waves in Evelyn’s heart. Knowing that Aron had feelings for her was one thing, but to hear him confess it was quite another. If he hadn’t said anything, she could have played dumb, ignoring his feelings until the end, allowing Aron to move on with his life after she was gone. But now that Aron had laid his feelings out in the open, she had no choice but to confront them.
As she was about to speak. Aron casually pointed to a fish and, bending down with a half–lifted gaze towards Evelyn, he asked, “What do you think about this one?”
In the brief moment, every action Aron took seemed so sudden to Evelyn. It was as though before she could even catch her breath from one surprise, he was already onto the next thing, always catching her off guard.
