Lovestory4- chapter 1
I went to the hotel to drop off some hangover meds for my bestie.
To my surprise, I overheard some familiar moans coming from the room next door.
Just yesterday, Alvin promised he’d love me forever, but now, he was making love with another
woman.
Later on, people all teased him, “Jaqueline’s already pregnant with someone else’s baby, Alvin, you
still haven’t gotten over her?”
My bestie Eleanor Greene got drunk at a social gathering, so I bought her some hangover meds and
took her to a hotel.
After she vomited in the trash can, she looked at me, all dazed.
“Jaqueline, I’m so unlucky. I broke up with my boyfriend yesterday, and today, I was forced to drink by my client.
“And now there’s a couple next door making love. Geez.”
While I teased her for trying to be tough, I couldn’t help but listen in on what was happening next
door.
Curiosity got the best of me.
Suddenly, there came a low growl, which made me drop the tissue box. I’d known the voice for ten
years.
With a bitter smile, I turned around and said, “Eleanor, I’m more miserable than you. The one
hooking up with another woman next door is Alvin.”
“What! Alvin’s cheating?”
I nodded, looking at Eleanor with teary eyes. It felt like an invisible hand was squeezing my tight, drowning me in suffocating despair.\
“Fuck! Let me go catch those cheating bastards!”
I stopped her.
With trembling fingers, I pulled out my phone and dialed Alvin Horne’s number.
His ringtone echoed from the room next door, but he didn’t pick up.
When I called again, there was no ringtone from next door anymore.
In the end, I stopped Eleanor from barging in because I had no idea how to handle this mess.
Lovestory4 chapter 1
heart
Back home, sitting on the couch in the place Alvin and I had shared for six years, I burst into tears.
Betrayal felt like a sharp blade slicing through me.
If I told anyone Alvin cheated on me behind my back, they probably wouldn’t believe it.
After all, everyone knew us as childhood sweethearts. We had been dating since we were teens. He was quiet and reserved except when it came to me.
After crying my heart out and venting the sadness and frustration inside me, I started calming
down.
fyou asked who mattered most in my life? It’d definitely be Alvin.
He was the one who handed me choices when life seemed hopeless.
But maybe some people weren’t meant to stay for our whole journey.
At midnight, Alvin finally came home.
When he saw me still on the couch, he paused, a tipsy look on his face. “Why are you still up?”
“I couldn’t sleep. Have you been busy lately?”
I watched him closely, hoping for any hint of guilt or truth written across his face.
Was he just that good an actor or was I just that naive?
His face didn’t change a bit, but now, it felt unfamiliar somehow.
“There’s been an issue with a project recently.”
Seeing him lie so smoothly left me unsure whether anger or disappointment weighed heavier inside.
I felt cold all over, and my heart broke.
Chapter 2
The next day, I took a day off specifically to accompany Alvin’s parents, Ruth Horne and Trey Horne, to go mountain climbing.
I had ulterior motives.
They were kind to me and always treated me like their own daughter.
If it hadn’t been for them, perhaps I would have struggled in the quagmire for my whole life.
I carried my bag and went out, Alvin said he wanted to go together.
I was surprised in my heart, but I did not refuse.
I couldn’t possibly stop him from filial piety towards his parents.
Just when there was an extra driver.
Ruth saw us coming out of the car together, and her smile deepened on her face.
Jokingly, he said, “Hey, busy bee, how come you have time today?”
Alvin sighed, “Mom…”
“I almost forgot that I have a son if you didn’t show up. No wonder they say daughters are considerate. Jaqueline is still the best, even though she is busy with work, she remembers to come
and see us.”
When are you two going to get the important things done? I can’t wait to hear Jaqueline call me
‘mom” sooner.
My heart felt bitter, and I forced a smile, saying, “Alvin is busy with work, there’s no rush for
marriage.”
“And even if we didn’t get married, in my heart, you and Trey are my parents.
“Jaqueline was so obedient. You said this stinky boy, at just a teenager, already knew how to bring a
wife home.”
Alvin smiled lightly. “I had good eyesight.”
I tightly pinched my finger, barely managing to control my expression.
Four people sat in the car, and the color outside the window gradually changed from grayish–white cement to lush green.
There were fewer and fewer cars on the road.
Suddenly, a rapid ringing sound rang out, pulling me back from the view outside the window.
