When I was eight months pregnant, Josiah Gilbert’s company planned to throw a party, so I stayed. at home and did a thorough cleaning and prepared a whole table of food.
He called all the senior executives of the company to celebrate the successful implementation of this project.
After the party was over, the empty seat on the dining table was filled with a cake by his secretary.
Aurora Wright pointed at my pregnant belly and laughed playfully.

Hazel swelled up like an inflatable doll, it was really crowded here!”
“No, inflatable dolls were not that fat, otherwise they wouldn’t sell.”
The crowd instantly burst into laughter, and the feeling of humiliation left my poor self–esteem utterly shattered.
I insisted on making her apologize, but Josiah turned against me on the spot.
“Aurora was just joking to lighten the mood, why are you taking it so seriously? If you don’t want to
eat,
then just leave, don’t stay here and throw a fit!”
On a bitterly cold night with snowstorm, he kicked me out of the house while I was only wearing a
nightgown.
He turned his head.
And he disdainfully said, “Don’t mind her, it’s all my fault for spoiling her. She’s swollen like a ball
and still has the nerve to get angry.”
“With a baby on the way, she couldn’t run far. With this weather, she would have to come back and kneel down, begging me to open the door for her in a while.”
But this time he guessed wrong.
I turned around and went downstairs without hesitation, and took a taxi to the hospital to make an
appointment for an induced labor operation.
This scum didn’t deserve to be a father.
The doctor on duty, after reading my medical records, heard that I wanted to have an induced labor.
She cautiously said, “You are already in the later months of pregnancy, and abortion is almost the same as giving birth. Are you sure you don’t want this child? Does the father know about it?”
“His father ran away with another woman.”

The doctor’s eyes showed sympathy, and she intended to help me check the information of the

Hearing that I didn’t even have a marriage certificate, she finally gave up persuading and scheduled the surgery for two days later.
When I was about to go back, the doctor saw that I was dressed too lightly and kindly lent me a white

When I arrived home, I was almost cold and it hurt and itched.
Josiah sat at the dining table, scrolling through his phone, not even bothering to look up at me.
He heard the sound of the door opening and immediately picked up the plate in front of him and smashed it on the ground.
“Hazel, Aurora was just joking, why did you make it a big deal?”
“Do you know that all the top executives of the company came tonight? You are embarrassing me!”
“She had just graduated and was not sensible. You are about to become a mother, and you are still not sensible? Why bother arguing with a young girl?”

joked that I looked like a ball and she joked that I looked like an inflatable doll.
The words she used to humiliate me were all jokes in Josiah’s eyes.
Aurora had just graduated two years ago and was an immature young girl.
But he forgot that I, who married him right after graduation, was only one year older than Aurora.
I had heard these malicious insults countless times when I was eight months pregnant.
Every time I got angry and upset because of Aurora, he would stand by her without hesitation, and together they would degrade me to dust.

His tone sounded like a giant hug when he opened his mouth.
“Never mind, I won’t argue with you about tonight’s matter anymore. Hurry up and tidy up, it’s
annoying just to look at it.”

I had no intention of tidying up, so I found the medicine box and prepared to go back to the room.
As soon as I entered the bedroom, I saw Aurora lying on my bed, in a seductive and alluring pose.
When she saw me, she pretended to be startled and stood up, opening her mouth.
“Hazel? I’m sorry. I didn’t know you would come back. Mr. Gilbert asked me to lie down here and
rest for a while. Please don’t be angry.”
My nails dug deeply into the palm of my hand and I turned to Josiah, hoping for an explanation.
He, however, was completely indifferent.
“It was snowing heavily outside, and the little girl felt unsafe to go back home, so she just slept on your bed for a while. Are you really going to argue about this?”
In his eyes, his wife who was eight months pregnant couldn’t even compare to a newly hired
secretary.
I was out for three hours, and he didn’t ask me a single question.
I was extremely disappointed and I couldn’t be bothered to argue with him anymore.
He turned around and entered the bedroom, and then he told Aurora to leave.
Listening to the continuous laughter of two people outside, I thought Josiah wouldn’t come in
tonight.
I was about to fall asleep when, unexpectedly, he lay down next to me.
