Chapter 95: Daniel’s Help
Julian, feeling irritated, responded, “Even if this hospital has checked everything, what’s wrong with getting another examination? As long as it ensures her safety, that’s what matters most. Besides, who can guarantee care like a hospital we know?”
Daniel, however, was annoyed by Julian’s attitude. Did this guy not understand anything?
“You need to get something straight. I’m not here to argue with you. You can see Chloe’s condition for yourself. If there were any real issues, she’d be lying in a hospital bed, not here. Can you think of someone else for a change? Chloe is a person, not your subordinate!”
What had started as a calm conversation escalated into a heated argument, with a palpable tension between the two men.
Chloe had come looking for Mia but felt a headache from the argument. Not wanting to engage, she retreated to her room.
In the darkness, Chloe felt as if something was wrapping around her.
She was immensely uncomfortable, her limbs seemingly free yet unable to move.
Suddenly, she felt something pulling her downward.
She struggled, but the harder she fought, the faster she fell.
The surrounding darkness seemed to envelop her completely, and just as she was about to succumb, Chloe jolted awake, sitting up in bed, gasping for air.
The room was dark, and the only sound was the crashing of waves outside, which only heightened her anxiety.
Chloe wiped her forehead, drenched in sweat. The events of the day had impacted her deeply.
She closed her eyes for a moment, leaning back. Even though it was just a dream, its effect on her was overwhelming.
In that instant, she felt as if she were back in the ocean, oxygen running out, helplessly sinking.
She never wanted to experience that suffocating feeling again.
After waking from the nightmare, Chloe couldn’t fall back asleep. She decided to sit up, throwing a jacket over her shoulders, and headed out for a walk.
The beach was deserted at night, eerily quiet, and the cold wind helped dispel some of her fear
Chloe wrapped her shawl tighter and continued walking on the sand.
Tonight, for some reason, the sky was cloudy, and she couldn’t see any stars.

As she walked, she tried to avoid thinking about the day’s events, but some things couldn’t just be dismissed. She couldn’t help but reflect on what had happened..
There were details she had overlooked, and connecting those dots clearly indicated someone had acted intentionally.
If it was just an accident, it couldn’t possibly be that everything was accidental.
Whether it was the lifeguard, the instructor, or the personnel involved, their attitudes felt off
to her.
Each of them quickly offered apologies, but beyond that, none showed any willingness to take responsibility. They were all deflecting blame.
It seemed likely that such incidents had occurred before, and they had developed a mutual understanding on how to handle these situations.
Lost in thought, Chloe suddenly stopped when she noticed someone ahead, not far from her, talking on the phone. Though some distance away, she could still hear him speaking.
“If this goes to court, how should we handle it?”
“I won’t accept a private settlement. This is a matter of life and death, and their attitude is completely unacceptable. Even if it’s a complicated international case, we’ll follow the necessary procedures. I want the outcome to be what I expect.”
Daniel understood perfectly well why these people were acting this way, completely shifting
blame without fear.
It was because the resort had only recently opened, and many of the guests were influential
with considerable backing and resources.
They felt empowered to create problems, thinking Chloe was an easy target, but that was just their assumption.
Once the lawyer finished speaking, he hung up and turned to see Chloe, clearly surprised to
find her there.
He glanced at his watch; if she was still up at this hour, it was likely because she couldn’t sleep.
“Want to take a walk together? The sea breeze feels nice tonight.”
Daniel smiled, not asking why she wasn’t resting but suggesting a stroll.
Chloe didn’t decline.
Walking alone felt pointless, and having company was nice.
“I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop, but was that call about my situation?”
Chloe hesitated before asking. She felt she should know, and since she had overheard, it was

only fair to ask.
3/3
Daniel figured she’d caught on, so he didn’t hide anything. “Yes, since this didn’t happen on our turf, it’s a bit complicated. But the lawyer I found is very reliable; he’s handled many international cases successfully. I’ll be kept updated on everything.”
Hearing this, Chloe felt a bit uneasy. She spotted a 24–hour convenience store ahead and suggested, “Can I treat you to a late–night snack?”
Her offer surprised Daniel. It was unexpected for her to invite him out, especially in such a way. He was taken aback but understood her change in attitude and readily agreed. “Sure!”
