Chapter 4 Privacy
Tiana just told me it was patient confidentiality.
Even though this patient had no shame, privacy still had to be respected.
After two days in the hospital, I received divorce papers from William’s lawyer.
He really couldn’t wait to get rid of me.
Ava even personally delivered them to me.
“Scarlett, here’s some money I’ve saved over the years, plus what William’s giving you, a hundred thousand dollars in total. I know your family background isn’t great, and this should be enough. After the divorce, don’t go spreading rumors that might affect William’s
promotion.”
As she spoke, a smug smile suddenly spread across her face.
“Of course, I’m not worried. As you know, I have close connections. with Heaven Group’s CEO. He won’t doubt William’s abilities based on anything you might say. We’re just giving you this money out of the goodness of our hearts.”
Out of the goodness of their hearts?
I wasn’t surprised at all that she could say something like this.

But I couldn’t control the nauseous feeling rising in my throat.
When I suddenly vomited what I was eating right onto her.
That smug look instantly vanished from her face.
She jumped back in disgust and horror.
“Scarlett, you did this on purpose!”
“Of course, I didn’t. But since you’re such a kindhearted person, you’d forgive me even if I had, wouldn’t you?”
Everyone stared at her.
She fell silent after that. After all, I was still a mother who had just lost her child.
Her face, though, was twisted with spite and malice.
After she left, Kennedy laughed. “Didn’t she claim to be close with me? How come she didn’t even recognize me standing right behind her?”
“Maybe you just have one of those faces…”
Kennedy responded by giving me a playful smack on the head before continuing to pack my things.
“Ken, William’s gotten promoted so quickly these past few years. Is it because of his ability, or because he’s my husband?”
Chapter 4 Privacy
Since marrying me, William’s career had skyrocketed.
In less than a year, he’d jumped from contract worker to regional manager.

I’d found it strange from the start, but since Kennedy and Tiana were abroad then, and Tiana was grieving her parents‘ death, I hadn’t wanted to bother them.
But William always believed it was his exceptional talent that. the company couldn’t function without him.
As his promotions came faster, his ego grew out of control, and his contempt for me deepened.
He thought if I’d been a wealthy heiress, I could have helped advance his career. With his abilities and my backing, he believed he’d be destined for wealth and fortune.
So he and Ashley tormented me behind closed doors.
They’d deliberately lock me out or claim the car was broken when it rained so they wouldn’t have to pick me up.
It wasn’t until late in my pregnancy, when I discovered his long–term hotel records with someone else, that the veil finally lifted from my eyes.
Though I was born into wealth, I had fought with my parents and Kennedy when I chose him.

My parents had only one condition. I could marry him, but I couldn’t tell William anything about our family.
So I made up a story.

Plus, our family believed in living modestly, so our wealth wasn’t apparent.
Mom and Dad received William and his parents in our oldest house, which was pretty run–down, and William bought the whole act.
All these years, he thought my family was poor. Whenever he got a promotion or raise, he’d tell me not to mention it to my family.
He was afraid they’d ask to borrow money.
What he didn’t know was that he probably got those promotions because he married me.
Kennedy packed up his things and said, “It’s because of his ability.”
My heart skipped a beat when I heard that.
But then Kennedy gave a wry smile. “Though plenty of people in the company have the same abilities as him. He wasn’t the only choice,
