The warmth of his breath against my skin betrayed his intentions before he even moved.
His hand brushed lightly over my abdomen, sliding toward the hem of my shirt with a deliberate slowness.
I caught his wrist, holding it firmly in place. “I’m tired,” I said, my tone cold and unyielding. “I’m not in the mood.”
Alpha Jasper froze, clearly startled by my direct refusal.

The faint moonlight streaming through the curtains illuminated his face as I turned to meet his gaze.
“Do I need to spell it out for you?” I asked, my voice sharp and unwavering.

“I’m not playing games,” I interrupted, my voice steady. “I just can’t believe a word you say anymore.”
Silence stretched between us.
He raked a hand through his hair in frustration. “Then what do you want me to do? Tell me!”
I held his gaze, refusing to flinch. “Choose me,” I said simply. “Even Just once, Alpha Jasper. Between Omega Bianca and me, choose me.”

As if fate wanted to mock him, the shrill ring of his phone shattered the tension.
He glanced at the screen, his entire demeanor shifting.
I didn’t need to ask who it was–I already knew.

she’s the only one in the whole of The Ambersy Pack who would use the phone to contact Alpha Jasper.
Maybe to show how special she is, or maybe to make me jealous.

From the speaker, her voice trembled, delicate and pitiful. “Alpha Jasper,”
she whimpered, “it’s thundering, and I’m so scared here all alone. I didn’t want to bother anyone else, but… could you come? If Luna Audrey doesn’t want you to, just forget I said anything.”
Alpha Jasper rubbed his nose, a telltale sign of his unease, before glancing at me.
I stared back at him, hoping he to prove his promise.
But of course, he didn’t.

“Don’t worry,” he said into the phone. “I’m coming over right now.”
A cold laugh slipped from my lips, sharp and bitter.
Alpha Jasper held my hand, looking conflicted.
“Audrey, she’s terrified of storms. She just got out of the hospital, and she’s still weak. I need to-”
“To spend the night with her?” I cut him off, yanking my hand away. “I’ve never heard of a
sister–in–law needing that kind of care from her brother–in–law. That’s a new one.”
His face tightened, but he didn’t argue.

He sighed, as if he were the one being wronged. “I’ll explain everything when I get back.”

She turned to him, giggling as she adjusted the dress. “What do you think, Alpha Jasper? Isn’t it perfect? Do I look like a Luna?”
My wolf stirred angrily within me, the air around us crackling with suppressed rage.
I dropped my bag, the thud breaking the scene like a thunderclap.
I would no longer give in an inch!
