Gradually, Chloe found her rhythm, rediscovering the feeling she had when she practiced dancing. She had actually taken quite a few dance classes, so after an initial awkwardness where she stepped on Daniel’s toes, she quickly improved and danced better.
Chloe excelled in various talents, though her greatest strength lay in academics. Not only was she a top student, but she also had excellent skills in conducting experiments. From a young age, she participated in numerous competitions, whether local or international, achieving impressive results. These accomplishments were a significant factor in her receiving a recommendation to her school.
However, she ultimately declined that opportunity and instead worked hard to gain admission on her own merit. What set Chloe apart was her ability to master every skill she learned. Even if she forgot something for a while, she could always regain that feeling and excel once more.
At first, she struggled to remember the steps and danced poorly. But soon enough, everyone could see that Chloe moved like a professional dancer. Not only did she improve, but she also lifted everyone’s spirits, making it clear that they were a perfect match.
“I thought you had completely forgotten how to dance! I didn’t expect you to be this good; I can barely keep up with you. Truly, a top student is a top student. I can’t compete with that,” Daniel remarked, though his humility was evident, as he knew he couldn’t quite match Chloe
in academics.
However, in terms of making money, he definitely had the upper hand. Success in business required both skill and brains. Chloe didn’t particularly enjoy dealing with such matters, which meant she was bound to lag behind Daniel in that area.
After hearing Daniel’s comment, Chloe felt a bit shy. “I just found the rhythm again. How did you know I was practicing at school? Did you see me?”
Thinking back to their earlier conversation when Daniel first invited her to dance, she wondered when he had seen her practice.
“I just happened to walk by. You know I’m two years older than you, right? I was actually there for your school’s graduation ceremony. I didn’t expect to see you backstage. You looked so focused while dancing that I couldn’t help but take a couple of pictures. I didn’t realize we had such a connection. And when I mention ‘connection,‘ I’m referring to my relationship with
you, not you and Julian.”
As Daniel spoke, he suddenly tightened his grip around Chloe’s waist and spun her around in a single motion. His move was both stylish and impressive, causing the crowd to gasp in excitement.
Chloe was startled, but she quickly realized it was a normal dance move. Still, given that it was her first dance with Daniel, she found it surprising and felt he should have given her a heads-

“While I was coming in, I was actually trying to guess where you were. I saw many beautiful masks that really fit your style. But when I saw your mask, I instantly recognized you. We
seem to share the same taste–after all, we both chose the same style of mask, just different colors. I bet everyone thinks we’re the best match in the room.
Chloe didn’t respond to that comment, sensing he was trying to get closer. Instead, she shifted the conversation. “You’re here for a vacation, right? How long do you plan to stay? You must have a lot of work to catch up on, so you can’t stay here too long.”
Daniel felt a little helpless; it was clear she was deliberately changing the subject. “Of course, I’m here for a vacation. After working for so long, I need to relax. I can’t just drive myself into the ground.”
He responded with a hint of sadness. He was indeed on vacation, but he was also pursuing Chloe. He thought it best not to mention that part; she would likely brush him off.
“But you in finance must be very busy, right? You probably have a mountain of work. Are you sure you have time to play?” Chloe remarked, recalling how Julian had become stressed and ill from his workload.
Daniel looked at her, puzzled. “Wait, did you misunderstand something? Sure, I’m busy, but I have my own company with plenty of employees. If they can’t help me with the workload, what’s the point in hiring them? Plus, I have assistants. I can’t handle everything myself; they can manage their tasks. If things get tricky, they know how to reach me. I don’t have to be at the office to solve every issue, do I?”
His explanation made sense, and while Chloe was about to respond, someone suddenly pulled her away.
When she turned around, she found herself face–to–face with Julian. Instinctively, she glanced to her side and noticed Layla standing there, her expression mirroring Chloe’s disbelief.
It seemed they both couldn’t believe that this moment of changing dance partners was happening to them.
