Chapter 22 She Was Really Angry
Cleveland Hospital.
Sofia had a hectic morning.
She finally reached the cafeteria, only to have Loule Ramirez block her way.
“Hey, Dr. Schneider, here for lunch? What do you want? It’s on me,” Louie said.
Sofia glanced at him, a bit annoyed, but still polite. “No thanks, Dr. Ramirez. I have surgery this afternoon. Just grabbing something quick.
“You need to eat well, especially when busy. Don’t be shy. The paella today is great. You should try it.” Louie insisted.
Sofia frowned, thinking how annoying he was.
She came for the paella, but Louie standing there ruined her appetite.
Sofia said, “Really, no need, Dr. Ramirez. I’m in a rush. Goodbye.”
She then walked toward the sandwich counter, cursing Louie in her mind while eyeing the paella.
Louie didn’t notice her little glances. He just watched her walk away, buy a sandwich and orange juice, and leave.
A nearby colleague patted Louie’s shoulder and said, “Dr. Schneider is the ice queen of our hospital. If you want to win her over, you’ve got to try harder.”
Louie smirked and said, “Jonathan Gregory, be honest. Am I not good–looking? Or is my technique bad? Other doctors and nurses flock to me, but she just ignores me.”
Jonathan replied, “Dr. Schneider is indeed quite unique.”
At least, among the doctors and nurses he knew, he hadn’t seen anyone like her.
She was incredibly hardworking and dedicated to her patients.

With her dedication, her skills should have have Improved rapidly, and she should have advanced in rank long ago.
But despite her efforts, she hadn’t performed many surgeries as the lead surgeon. She participated in many major surgeries, but that was mainly due to her mentor.
Jonathan said, “Honestly, I don’t think Dr. Schneider is suited to be a doctor.”
Louie glanced at him, not displeased by his words but seemingly quite in agreement.
For doctors like them, who were naturally talented, Sofia’s hard work without made her different from them.

Yet Sofia’s beautiful face had captivated him from the first moment he saw her.
Even though she was covered in blood and her face was smeared with it, it didn’t diminish her beauty.
In fact, it made her even more attractive.
From that first look, Louie had decided that he wanted her.
But who would have thought that even after being at Cleveland Hospital for over a year, he hadn’t made any headway with Sofia.
They had barely exchanged a few words.
Lately, Sofia had shown clear impatience with his attempts to strike up a conversation. Her icy looks gave him chills.
Louie didn’t believe in giving up.
He had never failed with women before.
For Sofia, he was determined to succeed.
Sofia had no idea what Louie was thinking as she left.
She walked back with her sandwich and orange juice when her phone rang.
It was a special notification sound.

Sofla stopped and pulled out her phone.

It was a special app they used to contact each other for important matters, known only to the four of them. Normally, they used WhatsApp to communicate to accommodate Sofia.
This special sound hadn’t been heard in a long time.
Hearing it now shocked Sofia. What could have happened?
But when she read the message, she almost laughed out loud in anger.
“Sofia, Mr. Hart’s people contacted us. They want us to investigate someone.”
Sofia could sense the sender’s gloating even through the screen.
Because following that message was her own name.
Oh great, they wanted her to investigate herself.
How amusing.
Sofia pursed her lips and asked, “What’s the offer?”
“For now, our minimum rate, ninety million,” came the reply.
Sofia pouted in dissatisfaction.
Just ninety million to investigate her?
How naive!
“Well? Reject it?” The person asked before Sofia could respond.
Sofia smirked and replied, “Why refuse? This is a great chance to make a lot of money. Are you stupid?”
The person quickly responded, “You mean…”
“Tell them, the money’s not enough so we won’t investigate,” Sofia said.
In other words, as long as the money was right, everything was negotiable.

But how much money was enough was entirely up to her.
“Got it. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it,” the person replied.
Sofia exited the app, no longer concerned with the matter.
Her expression grew increasingly complex.
Nathaniel was seriously suspicious of her now, even going so far as to contact the Nightfall Order to investigate her.
It seemed she had indeed exposed herself.
Sofia felt a bit annoyed.
She had been so careful!
Where had she slipped up to make Nathaniel start investigating her?
The more she thought about it, the more she believed it must have been last night when she was discovered.
But that jerk, he had watched her work all night without saying a word.
It was infuriating!
Sofia even considered returning to the Hart family to confront Nathaniel about what was going through his head and how could he be such an asshole!
She didn’t even want to treat him anymore, fearing he would only be more troublesome when healed.
Sofia bit into her sandwich viciously, as if she were biting into Nathaniel’s flesh.
Jerk, jerk, jerk!
She was really angry!
