Chapter 80: Booking the Tickets
Julian was in his office, handling tasks while glancing at his assistant. He hoped this time he wouldn’t receive any more bad news.
“Sorry, boss. I did make a mistake last time, but I’ve confirmed everything this time. Miss Mia went to an island with someone. Here’s the address. If you need, I can arrange the tickets for you now.”
His assistant was visibly nervous. Previously, following Julian’s instructions, he had investigated Chloe’s whereabouts, only to find she was vacationing in another city. However, when they arrived, Chloe wasn’t there. It turned out that Daniel had pulled a fast one.
That miscommunication wasted a lot of time, so this time, he made sure to double–check everything.
Wyatt listened to his assistant and didn’t react too strongly. If there were another issue this time, he’d think about whether he needed to keep this assistant around. If he couldn’t handle such small matters, he didn’t deserve his salary.
“Are you sure there are no problems this time?” Julian asked.
“Yes, I’m sure. I’ve confirmed with the airline–they definitely boarded the plane together. I also located their hotel on the island. I can guarantee they’re there and haven’t gone anywhere else.”
The assistant nodded earnestly, determined not to make mistakes this time. He didn’t blame himself for the previous error; he hadn’t known Daniel could be so devious. Though he knew Daniel and Julian’s relationship had soured, he hadn’t expected Daniel to play such tricks.
Having heard a satisfactory answer, Julian felt somewhat relieved, though not as happy as he would have liked. He suspected Daniel had probably already arrived at the island by now. That man always kept his true intentions hidden.
Julian couldn’t shake off the discomfort thinking about Daniel using these tactics against him.
“Book me the earliest flight right now.”
His assistant was already prepared; the earliest flight was for tomorrow morning. However, Julian had many tasks to complete tomorrow. If he was going, he needed to finish everything today, or it would disrupt the work progress.
“Okay, boss. I’l book the tickets for you. But how do you plan to handle today’s workload? There are two very important meetings tomorrow, and if we miss them, it could affect future plans.”
“Just arrange everything for today. Handle it and inform me afterward. Also, investigate everything thoroughly and find out Daniel’s situation–see if he’s already at the island.”
After hearing this, the assistant immediately set to work.
Once outside the office, he sighed
With relief. During his conversation with Julian, he felt his life was on the line. Thankfully, there were no major issues; if there had been, he would have been in real trouble. Others noticed the assistant’s relieved demeanor and couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious. Did that mean they were in for bad luck too?
“What’s going on today? Is the boss angry? I’ve never seen him this upset before,” a new intern whispered. The intern had only been there for a few days, so he wasn’t aware of the details. However, he sensed that his boss wasn’t in a good mood, which made him worry about making mistakes that could annoy him. So he cautiously asked, hoping to prepare in case something went wrong.

“It’s nothing. Just book a ticket for the boss for tomorrow morning. I’ll send you the details. I have to take care of something first,” the assistant replied.
He needed to handle all of tomorrow’s responsibilities today, so he quickly left to prepare, ensuring nothing would be delayed.
The intern thought this wasn’t particularly important, especially since he would receive the information. But while booking the ticket, he hesitated–should he book one ticket or two?
If they were going to an island, it was likely for a vacation, which meant he should probably book for the boss and his girlfriend. After considering that two tickets felt safer, he decided to book both.
The next morning, Julian sat in the departure lounge, scrolling through his phone. He still had a bit of time before boarding.
He wished he could take off right now. All he could think about was being in front of Chloe; he missed her terribly after being apart for so long.
While scrolling through social media, he saw Daniel had posted from the very place Julian was headed. Fury coursed through him, making him shake with anger.
He knew Daniel had deliberately given him false information to meet Chloe. Julian couldn’t believe how far Daniel would go.
