Chapter 58: Helping Them Reconcile
Chloe found it strange that Daniel had added her as a friend. They weren’t that close, even though Julian was the connection between them. She was a bit more familiar with Adam, but she hardly knew the rest of Julian’s friends.
Even though they had shared meals together and knew each other’s names and a few details, Chloe and Daniel had barely spoken.
So why was Daniel adding her now?
Chloe figured it might be something important, so she accepted the friend request.
However, after a long time, there was no further communication, almost as if Daniel had added her by mistake. Chloe found it odd but didn’t dwell on it and returned to what she was doing.
On the other side, Daniel smiled as he saw his friend request was accepted. Just then, Adam walked back in.
“Did you get him home?” Daniel asked.
Adam nodded. “Yeah, I did. Luckily, we didn’t run into his aunt. If we had, it would’ve been a nightmare.”
Because Julian had been ruining his health lately, his mother, Madison, had been visiting the villa more often. If they had run into her, there would have been questions. After all, they had grown up together, so she knew them well.
“By the way, I’ve been calling you out for a while now, and you kept saying you were busy. But today, you! came right away. Have you finished everything?” Adam asked.
Daniel smiled and nodded. “Yeah, it’s all handled now.”
“Well, alright. But I just remembered something.” Adam suddenly thought of something he had almost forgotten. He’d been reminding himself not to forget it, and yet he nearly had.
“What’s got you so worked up?” Daniel asked.
“If I’m not mistaken, Chloe’s been preparing for her grad school exams, right? Hasn’t she finished by now?”
“She finished a few days ago,” Daniel responded calmly.
Adam blinked in surprise. “Wow, you’re well–informed. You remembered that pretty clearly.”
“I don’t forget details,” Daniel said.
“You’re right, details make all the difference. I get it,” Adam replied, a bit in awe.
“As long as you understand,” Daniel said, still composed.
“You’re not one to be modest, are you? But don’t you think it’s unbelievable that after all these months, Chloe and Julian still haven’t made up? Could they really be heading for a breakup?”
Adam’s thoughts drifted from the exam to Chloe and Julian’s relationship.
Daniel remained unfazed. “Isn’t that pretty normal?”
“You’re way too calm about this,” Adam replied.
“What do you expect? It was bound to happen sooner or later,” Daniel said, feeling that the end of Chloe and Julian’s relationship was inevitable.

Given everything that had happened, it wasn’t surprising at all.
But Adam misinterpreted Daniel’s words, thinking that reconciliation was still on the horizon. After all, Chloe and Julian had had their ups and downs before, and this time it just seemed to be taking longer.
“You’re right. They’ll probably make up soon. Chloe’s finished her exams now, after all,” Adam mused.
Daniel didn’t bother to correct him.
“I just realized you and Chloe seem to get along pretty well, don’t you?” Adam asked.
Pleased with himself, Adam smiled. Out of everyone, he felt like he had the best rapport with Chloe.
“Of course! We’re pretty close,” Adam said, proud.
“Well then, since you two are so close and she’s finished her exams, shouldn’t you do something to celebrate for her?” Daniel suggested.
Adam hadn’t thought of that before. Celebrate? But how?
In their circle, celebrations were often wild and unorthodox, but Chloe wasn’t like that. He couldn’t use
their usual methods to celebrate with her, so he was at a loss for what to do.
“Take her out for a meal! And while you’re at it, you could use the opportunity to help her and Julian patch things up,” Daniel suggested casually.
Adam lit up at the idea. It was perfect! Julian had been miserable lately, drinking heavily and ruining his health. If Adam could help Chloe and Julian reconcile, it would be a great thing!
And if it worked, Adam would be the hero of the story. The thought made him excited.
Adam slapped Daniel on the shoulder. “You’re right! Why didn’t I think of that? If I invite her, Chloe will definitely accept. Then I can arrange for them to ‘accidentally‘ run into each other. It’ll be the perfect setup for them to make up!”
Daniel watched Adam get more excited by the second but said nothing.
Having someone else take care of things suited Daniel just fine.
With renewed energy, Adam pulled out his phone and called Chloe.
“Hey, Chloe! How have you been? I’ve got something really important to talk to you about,” Adam said, his voice brimming with enthusiasm.
After he explained his idea, Chloe was silent for a moment.
Adam understood her hesitation. “Don’t worry, it’ll just be you and me. Julian won’t be there, I promise.”
With that reassurance, Chloe agreed to meet.
Adam was thrilled as he hung up. He nudged Daniel again. “Alright, now all you need to do is get Julian to come along and ‘accidentally‘ bump into her. Then it’s a done deal!”
“Of course, I’ve got it covered,” Daniel replied. He had been planning to keep himself busy, but now that Adam had everything arranged, he just went along with the plan.
The thought of helping Chloe and Julian reconcile made Adam even more excited. If they really got back together, he’d be the one to thank!
The more he thought about it, the more he couldn’t wait for the day to come. But before that, he had to make sure everything went smoothly and that nothing would give their plan away.
“Let’s go over the details so we don’t mess this up. Chloe can’t suspect that we’re setting her up,” Adam
