Chapter 76
Tears rolled down Lily’s cheeks as she watched her parents exchange their vows.
Elle was awed when she walked into the venue, and she shot Lily the most appreciative smile ever, grateful that her idea became a reality, and now, she was happily exchanging vows with the one man she has ever truly loved, and Lily couldn’t help the happiness she felt at the sight of it.
“I now pronounce you, husband and wife, you may kiss the bride. The guest stood up and began clapping, while she hid her face with the bouquet of flowers, and she felt camera lights go off in her face.
“You can look now,” someone whispered, and she slowly brought the bouquet down from her face, and peeped, and her parents were now walking around, greeting their guests. “Who knew you were such a crybaby?” Asher handed over a handkerchief to Lily, who has just finished balling her eyes out watching the ceremony. She rolled her eyes but took the handkerchief regardless.
“It’s not my fault you’re so cold hearted” she dabbed her eyes and returned the handkerchief to him.
“Not so much, I almost cried as well.”
“Really? During which part?”
“The part where I watched you, and imagined you walking down the aisle to me. You would be such a beautiful bride. Lily’s eyes widened at the unexpected confession, and she forced out a laugh, looking everywhere but at him.
*Don’t move so fast, Allard. You are yet to even earn my forgiveness.”
He smiled and walked closer to her, “but I will, Lily Larkin. You were created just for me”

Even though she didn’t mean to, her lips tugged up in the biggest smile ever, and her cheeks turned a bright shade of red. “Stop talking nonsense,” she muttered and he raised a brow, “you might not want me after you… After a few months ” she instantly corrected herself when she realized what she was about to let slip.
Asher narrowed his eyes and stared at her sceptically. “What are you not telling me, Lily?” Lily gulped and chuckled nervously,
“What? Nothing! Why would I be hiding anything from you? I’ve got nothing to tell you!”
“You seem…” The rest of his sentence was drowned out by the shrill of the mic as Mr Larkin picked it up.
“Good day friends of the Larkins” all the guests, who truly were just friends of the family, turned their undivided attention to him. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to have you all here celebrating this wonderful union with us. A wonderful and beautiful addition has been made to our family, and I can proudly say we’ve never felt more complete. So thank you for coming to celebrate with you, and cheers to the newest couple, Lincoln and Elle Larkin‘ the crowd immediately clapped their hands, and glanced at the couple that stood together, arms intertwined, and full of smiles.
This union, however,” He continued and the claps died down, “is just one of the many things we have to celebrate today. As friends, I wish to share this with you before the rest of the world, my son, Lincoln, from this day, assumes the role of the CEO for Larkin Corporation, and my beautiful granddaughter, Lily Larkin, will be taking over as the managing director of the Larkin Interiors”
Asher’s mouth dropped open, and he turned around so fast, Lily was scared he ruptured something. “Did I hear that right?” She smiled and nodded, and he shook his head, “you’re staying back? You are not leaving for Paris anymore?”
“Well, I still am, but I am not relocating over there anymore. I have a family here, and I want to stay with them. That’s what I wanted to tell you… He immediately grabbed her and wrapped his arms tightly around her, “earlier today” she finished, laughing.
Are you being for real?” He asked again, the second he set her back on the ground and she nodded. I can’t believe this.”
She stared at him with soft eyes, a smile playing on her lips as she rubbed his cheek with her thumb. “You should, it’s true. I have one more thing to tell you.” The smile on her face fell off, and Asher instantly mirrored her expression, his eyes darting all over her face.
“What’s wrong?”
She took a deep breath, and took a step back, preparing herself for whatever his response might be. “I…” She wriggled her hands together and exhaled through her mouth, “I am pregnant, Asher. Two months in.” ”
Slowly, the words registered in Asher’s head, and he widened his eyes, as his hands dropped to his sides. “Is…” He cleared his throat, “is it…”
“Yes. That night at the yacht.” Silence followed her confession, and Asher stared blankly, and Lily felt her heart drop to her stomach. Of course, he wouldn’t want the baby. “Listen, I’m keeping this baby, and it’s okay if you …”
“I’m going to be a father?” A small smile broke out of his face, and he seemed to snap out of the trance he was in. “I am going to have a child with the woman I love the most in the world? Why on earth would I not want that, Lily?” He asked, and Lily released a shaky breath.
*You… You want me to, no, you want the child?”

He looked at her like she had lost her mind, and immediately modded. “Of course! Of course!” She exhaled shakily, tears pooling in her eyes, and Asher immediately pulled her into a hug. “I am going to be a father!”
The venue immediately went dead silent, and all eyes turned to them.
“What did you just say?” Elle asked, walking up to them, and their eyes widened.
“You haven’t told them?” Lily shook her head.
“I guess you have now”
They slowly broke apart from the hug, and turned to see the entire family staring at them with curious eyes.
“What did he just say, Lily?” Elle asked again, and Lily stared at her feet, * speak!”
“I’m pregnant, mum” she said, and looked up, “and it’s for Asher.” She leaned in closer to Asher the second she was done speaking, and he wrapped a protective arm around her, while Elle just stared at them with her eyes wide open.
“Are you okay?” Lincoln asked, and Elle slowly turned around to face him.
“We are going to be grandparents,” she whispered, and Lincoln smiled, nodding, “we are going to be grandparents!”
“And there you have it, another reason for a celebration today!” Mr Larkin yelled, and the crowd went up in a frenzy. Everyone trouped over to them, congratulating them.
“I can’t believe you got my sister pregnant, yuck!” Christie said as he made his way over to them, and while Asher rolled his eyes, Lily giggled.
More and more people walked up to them, congratulating them, even more so, congratulating Larkin, on becoming a great grand pa, and Lily watched with a growing warmth at the pit of her stomach, and tears welling up in her eyes.
If someone told her 6 months ago, that she was going to have a full freaking family that deals in and with love, a man fully in love with her, a freaking position as a managing director in the Larkin family, and a baby on the way, she would have shot the person dead.
But here she was, with all that, and she couldn’t help but feel there was so much more to come.
Noticing her silence, Asher turned to her with a smile and immediately pulled her to himself, then placed a kiss on her forehead. “How long before I earn the right to ask you to be my wife?”
She laughed heartily and hugged him. “hmm, your good boy behavior will determine that,” she said and he laughed, hugging her even tighter.
“I’ll be the best boy if that’s what it takes to make you mine forever. I love you, Lily Larkin. I mean it
Her heart thumped loudly inside her chest and her smile broadened. “My heart knows only you, Asher Allard, and I can’t wait to see where it all
goes.”
He bent down and kissed her cheek. “To the future.”
“To the future,” she repeated.
