Chapter 14
I was transferred to a new branch of the company in another day, starting a new chapter in my life.
I thought everything was finally behind me, and I could completely forget about Ricky Grayton
But he wasn’t done haunting me. On my second day in the new city, he called
“Alexia, fine, you want to break up, I accept it. But do you know how much pain you’ve caused my mom? She cried for days because of you. And how could you stoop so low as to have your friend fire both Sharma and me? Are you trying to ruin us?”
He was right–his company’s CEO, Zac Ruger, was my childhood friend
When Zac learned how Ricky had betrayed me, he was furious and immediately fired both Ricky and Sharna, telling them to stay as far away as possible.
But that wasn’t my doing Zac simply refused to allow people with such poor moral character to work for him.
The truth was, Ricky’s qualifications weren’t enough to get him into such a prestigious company in the first place. If it weren’t for me, Zac wouldn’t have hired him or given him a vice president position.
Now, Ricky was just returning to the life he was destined for. What was there to resent?
I didn’t want to engage with him further. I hung up the phone, blocked his number, and deleted his contact.
To ensure I wouldn’t feel lonely in a new city, Zac opened a new branch there and claimed he needed to “personally oversee operations.”
He even bought an apartment across from mine, becoming my neighbor.
Zac cooked for me, cared for me, and spent his free time taking me out for movies or shopping. My days became lighthearted and peaceful.

A Love Left Behand
Chapter 11
With time, I slowly let go of the heartache Ricky had caused me,
A year later, Ricky’s mom managed to get in touch with me through various connections. She invited me to her birthday celebration, apologized on Ricky’s behalf, and promised that no matter what, she and her husband would always treat me like their own daughter.
I flew back with Zac to attend the event.
Surprisingly, Ricky didn’t show up at the party,
It wasn’t until Ricky’s mom mentioned it that I learned why: after losing his job and breaking up with me, he had fallen into despair, drowning himself in alcohol every day.
Ricky’s parents couldn’t stand Sharna’s laziness and pretentiousness, so they eventually
kicked both of them out.
The house Sharna lived in was one Ricky had paid the down payment for, but they couldn’t afford the mortgage and soon had to sell it. Sharna squandered the remaining money on makeup and beauty treatments, insisting that “a woman has to take care of herself.”
During this time, Sharna tried every trick to get Ricky to marry her, but for some reason, he refused, leaving her in tears.
When Sharna finally gave birth, Ricky discovered that the child wasn’t his.
Enraged, he lashed out at her. In the chaos, Sharna accidentally hit the back of her head, bled out, and died on the spot.
Ricky was arrested for manslaughter.
At the prison, Ricky’s mom told me these things, sobbing until she fainted several times.
Since Ricky’s father was in poor health, Zac and I accompanied her to visit Ricky in jail.
When we met, Ricky, his face lined and aged, looked nothing like the proud young man I once knew. Tears streamed down his face as he apologized.
“Alexia, I know everything was my fault. Can you forgive me? After you left, I realized that– you’re the one I truly love. Please, wait for me. When I get out, I’ll marry you. I swear, I’ll make it right.”

Chapter 14
“I love you. I can’t live without you,”
My cold gaze fell on him.
“But I don’t love you anymore.”
“The most precious things in life should be cherished when you have them. Regretting them after they’re gone is too late.”
Micky’s expression twisted into a maniacal smile as he pointed angrily at Zac.
“You traitorous woman! It’s because of him, isn’t it? I knew it! You’ve known each other since childhood–there’s no way your relationship was innocent. You betrayed me and fell
for him, didn’t you?”
“If you won’t marry me, I’ll make sure you remember me for the rest of your life!”
In a fit of madness, Ricky ran headfirst into the wall. Blood poured down his face as he collapsed to the ground, convulsing. His wide–open eyes stared into nothingness as his life
ended in that moment.
Ricky was wrong. I wouldn’t remember him forever, because he had nothing to do with me
anymore.
His parents kept their word, treating me like a daughter. After his mother recovered, they moved to the city where I worked and settled there with me.
It wasn’t until they passed away that I discovered they had transferred all their savings and
property to my name.
As for Zac, he never married. The girl he had loved in his youth died in a plane crash, and
from that moment on, he decided he would only love her for the rest of his life.
Ricky was wrong again. Not every man is like him, flitting from one love to the next, only to
meet a tragic end.
As for me, there are still many beautiful things waiting for me in the future.
The days ahead are new and full of possibilities. No one is allowed to look back.
