Chapter 11
“What exactly are you thinking? Are you trying to upset my parents on purpose?”
On the way home, Ricky Grayton drove recklessly fast, his usually clear voice laced with suppressed anger.
remained indifferent. “Weren’t you the one who told me to answer that way before?”
I scoffed, and it seemed to push Ricky to his limit. Like a provoked beast, he slammed the brakes and brought the car to an abrupt stop.
His face grew darker, as though he couldn’t figure me out anymore.
“Alexia, you’ve changed your tactics, haven’t you? Deep down, you still care about me.”
He sighed, shaking his head with a bitter smile.
“You must still be upset about the video from last time, right? We can talk about it. There’s
no need to go through all this trouble.”
I crossed my arms and leaned back, watching him leisurely.
“Talk? And what exactly do you plan to talk about?”
Ricky was momentarily at a loss for words.
Was he planning to lie about some “business trip“? Or claim that his dear “Sharna” was too
scared and had no choice but to share a room with him?
Ridiculous.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” I said coldly. “Just remember, your mom has high blood
pressure. Don’t go overboard and upset her while you’re out having fun.”
Over the
years, Ricky had often attracted other women while we were dating.
But he never invested his heart in them–it was always just for fun, and they didn’t last long, I could never find any concrete evidence, leaving me to rely on my own guesses.

Ricky reserved all his patience and tenderness for her.

As soon as I finished speaking, Ricky stared at me in shock.
e rubbed his chin, as if trying to see right through me.
Then, a glimmer of something flashed in his eyes.
He couldn’t help but curl his lips into a faint smile.
“You’ve really gone to great lengths to get my attention, haven’t you, Alexia?”
I looked at him like he was an idiot.
And then, his phone rang.
“Ricky.”
We sat together in the car, the cramped space filled with a suffocating silence.
Sharna’s sweet, melodious voice came through the speaker, calling his name in a way that
could make someone’s heart itch.
The car was so quiet that I accidentally overheard their conversation.
“It looks like it’s going to rain soon. There’s been so much lightning, and I’m scared to be
alone. Can you come keep me company?”
Ricky’s dark eyes were cold and sharp, but he seemed restless.
After a brief moment, he responded decisively,
“I’ll be there soon.”
The girl on the other end cheered excitedly, her voice as bright and clear as a bird’s song at

Ricky turned to me. “Get out of the car and walk home on your own. I’ve got something urgent to take care of.”
