Grant left, dejected. He remembered our first meeting. That was a full moon
night. I was holding a dying kitten, desperately seeking help.
Finally, someone told me there was a late–night pet hospital. I bumped inno
him as I rushed to that pet hospital. I kept apologizing and he saw the dying
kitten in my arms. Knowing what was going on, he joined me.
Unfortunately, we failed to rescue that kitten. He gave me a tissue when I
was crying.
Perhaps that was why I fell in love with him. Later, I kept asking him our bur
he never agreed. I used every trick in the book of love, and finally we got together.
However, his mentor’s health worsened. He knew that his mentor loved
Wanda the most, so he took on the role of caring for Wanda. He never intended
to betray me, but we still separated.
He’d been too confident that he thought I would never leave him. However,
he was wrong.
When he knew it, it was too late.
He left the hospital, his back frail and lonely. Wanda was waiting for him.
“Grant, I’ll take you home.”

In the room, Jake looked at our daughter, content. I poked him.
“What’s her name?”

“Still thinking. Grandpa decides the given name, we decide the nickname.
What do you think?”
I nodded, then asked about the nickname. He shook his head.“My parents
said I sucked on this. So, it’s up to you.”
I was curious. “Why would they say that? Tell me about the names you
offered.”
“Mary, Lucy, Amy.”
Lily.”
I know he was waiting for me to side with him, but I couldn’t.“Let’s call her
Lily it was. Grandpa was in better health. Hearing he was gonna name his great–granddaughter, he was delighted.“What about Elizabeth?”
I liked it.
We never mentioned the previous night. We would always look ahead.
