Phoebe wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes as she spoke. Unable to bear watching any longer, she quietly left the bedroom.
In the small living room outside the bedroom on the second floor, Morris was sitting there, reviewing a couple of documents.
Phoebe sat down across from him and let out a loud “humph.”
Morris looked at her with a slight frown. “What’s wrong?”
Phoebe, acting like a sulky child, insisted. “I don’t care, I just want Cherise to be my granddaughter–in–law. No matter what, I only recognize her.”
Morris replied to her, “What else!”
He looked down to sign his name on the document, then stood up, intending to go to the bedroom to spend time with Cherise.
Just as he got up, Phoebe also stood up and blocked his way, pointing at him. “You think I don’t know? Men are all the same. “Many men, when their girlfriend or wife is in trouble, just want to leave them and find someone else, moving on without hesitation.”
She continued. “You, looking all decent, might have such thoughts, which wouldn’t be good for my Cherise, so I’m warning you in advance!”
Morris rubbed his temples. “What are you talking about? Am I not your grandson anymore? Am I the kind of person you, as my grandmother, wouldn’t trust? Phoebe, don’t worry, in this lifetime, no one else catches my attention except your dear Cherise!
He looked all serious. “If she lives, I live. If she dies, my heart dies with her! Besides, she’s just asleep–she’ll wake up very soon!”
