At the Chiver’s Residence, it was another seemingly lonely night,
Morris had just finished wiping down Cherise when Leo hurriedly rushed up the stairs and knocked on the door.
The knocks were loud and frequent; Morris frowned, worried the noise might wake Cherise.
But then he thought it might be good news, so he quickly put down the towel and went to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, he saw Leo standing there, breathless.
“Got news?” Morris asked with a frown.
Leo was too excited to speak and could only nod repeatedly, making sounds like “Mm, mm, mm.”
Morris took a deep breath and said, “Hurry up and tell me what happened!”
Leo paused for a moment before managing to say, “Crow says he’s broken down the Necrosis Poison and is on his way here.”
Morris’s eyes brightened immediately. “Quick, get someone to bring Mr. Muller over!”
Half an hour later, Rayburn, Crow, and Morris were sitting on the couch in the living room of Chivers Residence’s ground- floor apartment.
Rayburn held the notes that Crow had broken down while comparing them with the Necrosis Poison he had acquired from a man in the underground market.
The Necrosis Poison shouldn’t be smelled closely, as people with a sharp sense of smell could easily faint. Even those with less sensitive noses could inhale it through their nostrils.
As long as average people don’t take a deep whiff while holding it, they should be fine.
Of course, the most dangerous thing is direct injection, like when Cherise had a close call with Joseph injecting her, letting it seep into her body.
Luckily, Rayburn had a slightly impaired sense of smell since childhood, so he mostly relied on taste to break down
substances.
He just took a whiff, nodded, and said, “Young man, it’s a good thing you can use precise instruments to break it down. It would have been impossible for me to do this.”
He continued. “Since my sense of smell isn’t very keen, I could only discover five components by sniffing, which is why some traditional medicine really needs to lean on modern medicine and scientific tech. You’re really impressive for someone so young.”
Crow shyly scratched his head. “Well, it’s nothing. My medical skills were taught by my Boss. If my Boss were awake right now, she’d probably know just by sniffing with her sharp nose…”
Crow suddenly realized that Morris was beside him and said, “Her extraordinary nose is really impressive.”
Morris pursed his lips and looked at Rayburn. “Mr. Muller, now that the Necrosis Poison has been broken down, is there a way to counteract it?”
Rayburn nodded and asked Crow, “Did your Boss ever take any kind of detoxification pills or similar remedies before?”
“Yeah, my Boss loves to mess around with heart protection pills and those hundred poison pills. She made them herself, and with no volunteers, she tried them on herself to see the effects. I brought them with me.”

“When she collapsed, I gave her a hundred poison pills. I don’t know why it didn’t work so well this time,” Crow said as he handed Rayburn a small glass bottle full of pills.
Rayburn quickly took it, opened it, picked out one pill, and started to chew it.
A strange glint flickered in his eyes, and then it vanished without a trace.
It wasn’t until he swallowed the whole pill that he finally said, “It’s thanks to this Panacea Pill that Cherise was able to maintain her normal vital signs!”
“Oh? Mr. Muller, what do you mean by that? Are there more medicines she needs to take? When will Cherise wake up? Please explain.” Morris got anxious again.
Rayburn took off the reading glasses perched on his nose and said, “I need to check Cherise’s pulse again before I can conclude.”
Ten minutes later.
After checking the pulse, Rayburn nodded with certainty. “This antidote formula has been around for decades, but Cherise seems to have made some improvements.”
“The changes are clever, with the addition of needle grass. When taken, needle grass can neutralize many toxic components, especially the last and most difficult one to break down, a plant called cardinal flower, managed by our friend Crow.”
“Without this needle grass, even a deity couldn’t save someone poisoned by a cardinal flower. Thankfully, the needle grass neutralized the toxins. However, there’s a side effect; after using it to counteract poison, it puts you into a deep sleep for a while.”
“The length of this sleep is uncertain, possibly a day, a week, two weeks, or even longer. It varies based on individual constitution; this sleep is essentially a detox process. Once the toxins are cleared, she’ll naturally wake up.”
“Given her frequent interactions with medicines, she probably won’t sleep for long,” Rayburn said.
The tension Morris had been holding onto finally released as he slumped into the sofa by the bed. He gently tightened his hold on Cherise’s hand.
Rayburn glanced at him and then at Cherise, who was peacefully asleep in bed, shook his head, and left the bedroom with, Crow. He left them to enjoy their own cozy space.
Dream Residence,
Rayburn had just sat down to have some tea at home when Jason returned from work.
Seeing Mr. Muller, Jason asked, “Cherise is okay now, right?”
Rayburn nodded. “Yes, we’re just waiting for her to wake up. Come, sit down, I have something to tell you.”
Jason did as his grandfather instructed and sat down.
After a short while, Rayburn took out two small transparent bags from his pocket and gave them to Jason; each bag contained a few strands of hair.
