Chapter 120
“Uh, well..” Courtney stammered, struggling to find the words, especially in front of Tyson
“This is a military residential compound where you get housing as a benefit from the authorities. You two will be completely safe here. Moreover, most young people have moved out, so it’s quite quiet, and nobody will disturb you.
“The grocery market is just behind here, so it’s very convenient,” Tyson said as he drove into the compound, passing the attentive guards at the entrance.
Courtney breathed a sigh of relief. She had been worried about their safety if she and Hayden lived outside.
“Focus on recovering and regaining his memories as soon as possible, Tyson instructed briefly before leaving
Courtney pushed Hayden’s wheelchair into the house. Despite being an old building, the interior was clean, likely because Tyson had arranged for someone to tidy it up in advance. The house was well–stocked with daily necessities, too.
“Honey, I want to take a shower, Hayden insisted stubbornly.
He felt like he was growing mold after staying in the hospital for so long, even though Courtney had been diligently helping him clean up every day.
to handle
“I’ll go run the water for you. Stay here and behave,” Courtney said in a coaxing tone, as though talking to a child. That was the only way to Hayden when he got stubborn.
“Babe, let me help you unpack your suitcase and give my fingers some exercise,” Hayden said. Restless and unwilling to feel like a burden, he started opening Courtney’s suitcase to organize her clothes.
The suitcase had been brought over earlier by Tyson and was filled with Courtney’s clothes and personal items.
“Babe, are we not planning to have kids? Hayden asked.
Courtney was still in the bathroom running the water when she heard Hayden ask in a slightly wistful tone. She froze for a moment. “What?”
As soon as she stepped out of the bathroom, she saw Hayden sitting on the couch with her suitcase wide open beside him, holding a box of condoms he
had fished out from the pocket of one of her jackets
“When when did you buy this?” Courtney stammered, momentarily stunned.
“It was in your pocket.” Hayden sounded both angry and aggrieved.
Courtney suddenly remembered that when she was working at a pharmacy, some hooligans had opened a condom package and left it behind without paying
She had shoved it into her pocket, intending to throw it away, but had forgotten all about it since she never wore that jacket again.
“Do we really have to use this? I don’t want to,” Hayden said, clearly convinced that Courtney had gotten it specifically for him.
“You’re overthinking it,” Courtney snapped, snatching the box from his hand and tossing it into the trash.
Hayden smirked. “Well then, we won’t use it.”
Courtney was on the verge of losing it. “Hayden, I’m warning you! Your leg is still injured, and you need to rest while your fracture heals.
“No strenuous activity during this time. Don’t even think about it!” Courtney said, her face flushed as she scolded Hayden, furious at his wild thoughts.

“Does it have to be strenuous?” Hayden countered shamelessly. “What if I don’t move and you move?”
“You!” Courtney was about to explode with anger. Maybe I should just knock him out, she thought.
“Babe, I really can’t stand it anymore, Hayden whined softly. It was quite surprising how such a grown, good–looking man could whine and act cute without seeming out of place.
“Shut up,” Courtney snapped, yanking him up from the sofa and shoving his crutch into his hand. “Try walking slowly to the bathroom yourself.”
Hayden smugly shuffled his way toward the bathroom. The floor was wet and slippery, and he almost fell, but Courtney caught him from behind. He smirked, making it clear he’d done it on purpose.
Courtney helped him over to sit by the edge of the bathtub. “You’re not allowed to get in the water. I’ll help you wipe down. The stitches have healed well but you still can’t soak them.”
Hayden obediently nodded.
Courtney sighed helplessly. “After all, I owed him. Once he regains his memory, maybe this debt will be repaid, she thought.
With a towel in hand, Courtney gently began to wipe down Hayden’s back.
Fortunately, he was in good shape. Even after months without working out, his muscles remained firm, though he had lost some weight.
“Honey, will you find me repulsive?” Hayden suddenly looked up at Courtney. “I’m covered in scars.” He even had scars on his tattoos now
“Does your tattoo hurt?” Courtney asked softly, trying to change the subject.
“Not really, not as much as breaking ribs,” Hayden replied hoarsely. He probably didn’t want to dwell on the painful memories of being tortured. “Courtney, I’m really scared,” Hayden whispered.
It was the first time Courtney had heard Hayden admit to being afraid.
“I’m scared… that if I die, they’ll bully you, Hayden said, his voice a bit hoarse.
Although some of his memories were unclear, the instinct to protect Courtney seemed deeply ingrained in him. If he were gone, he was afraid someone might harm his wife.
