Yulia was starting to feel a bit shaken. She told Rita she wasn’t feeling well and wanted to rest early, then left.
After Yulia left, only Rita remained. Rita brewed coffee at a slow face, her movements graceful and skillful. She muttered softly to herself, “Megan, does this girl named Cherise have anything to do with you?”
“I’ve watched her competition videos, and her skills are much better than yours. She’s also more stunning in person. Honestly, she’s a natural beauty. But why do you still linger around even after you’ve passed away?
“When everyone sees Cherise, they can’t help but be reminded of you.”
In Glenshire Gardens, 2602, Cherise pushed open the door and saw Morris sitting on the couch, frowning at his computer. She walked over and sat beside him, asking, “Is something wrong?”
Seeing Cherise, Morris immediately relaxed. He replied, “Nothing. I just have to take a trip to Fresburg.”
After speaking, he took Cherise’s hand. His face was full of tenderness as he said, “It should just be two or three days. I’ll be back soon. Make sure to eat well.”
Cherise chuckled softly and said, “Of course, I’m not a kid.”
In the early morning, after Cherise had fallen asleep, Morris took a private jet to Fresburg.
The Dark Web Division had received a mission to go to Fresburg to capture a criminal gang codenamed the River Rats.
This gang had been kidnapping the rich people’s kids from several major cities in Clusia and shipping them in containers to Fresburg.
They used this to demand ransom, causing many of Clusia’s elite families to be in a state of panic.
Joseph had been up to some small schemes lately, making Morris quite concerned about Cherise. So he left Leo and Hugh behind to protect Cherise.
He took Steven, Justin, and several elite fighters from the Dark Web Division and headed to Fresburg.
When Cherise woke up and saw the empty room, she knew Morris had already left. Her phone on the nightstand buzzed a bit. Reaching for it, she saw it was a message from Morris.
The previous message, sent at 12:30 AM, read: [Babe, I’m heading out. Leo and Hugh are in Betrico if you need anything.] Just now, at 5:40 AM, a new message came in, saying: [Cherise, I’ve landed. Are you awake? Wait for me to return, I miss you!]
After reading the message, Cherise smiled warmly and replied: [Okay, I’ll wait for you to get back.
Still following her usual routine, Cherise completed her morning exercise before heading to classes at Betrico University. However, there were two extra people in her car, Leo and Hugh.
Hugh was driving while Leo, in the passenger seat, turned around with a cheeky grin, saying, “Ms. Leach, Mr. Chivers instructed us to stick with you. Please don’t be shy to tell us what you need.”
Cherise nodded and said, “Did Morris take this mission from the Dark Web Division?”
Hearing this, Leo felt a sudden tension. He thought, ‘Oh no, Mr. Chivers specifically said not to let Ms. Leach worry, and now she’s asking precisely the right questions.

Leo replied, “It’s just some–business stuff, nothing major. He’ll be back soon.”
Cherise knew Leo wasn’t being completely honest. Nevertheless she wasn’t too concerned about Morris’s capabilities. She replied. “Alright, understood.”
At Regalwood University, Yulia had just finished her class and went back to her office when Eric entered. Outside the office door stood a middle–aged woman with glasses.
Yulia had just settled in her chair but got up again when she saw Eric. She asked, “Mr. Williams, were you looking for me?”
Eric looked at Yulia and pointed to the woman outside. He said, “Ms. Muller, starting today, that lady, Jennifer Davis, will help you with the teaching responsibilities.
“She just retired from Clusia’s Traditional Medicine Association. You’ll definitely be able to learn a lot from her in the future.”
Yulia was puzzled for a moment. She asked, “Mr. Williams, I don’t quite get it. Are you saying the Traditional Medicine Department will now have two lead professors?”
Eric paused. Looking a bit embarrassed, he said, “Ms. Muller, well, it’s just that we recently lost the traditional medicine skills competition.
“Many students‘ parents called to complain, saying we need to replace the professor. I had no choice but to get Ms. Davis to help out.
“Don’t worry, even though you’re demoted to the level of an associate professor, your salary and benefits will remain as per the contract, not a penny less.”
Yulia said, “No, Mr. Williams, this is unfair. When we first signed the contract, it was agreed that I would be the only head professor. How did this change? Besides, you know Ms. Leach’s level from Betrico University.
“No matter who she’s up against, she always comes out on top. This decision seems quite unfair.”
Eric sighed. Though he knew Yulia was connected to the Muller family, he had no other choice. He said, “There’s nothing I can do. The parents are making a fuss. For now, we’ll just have to make do.
“After some time, you’ll get used to it. Let’s leave it at that for now. Ms. Davis, please come in and meet everyone.”
Yulia had more to say but stopped when she saw Jennifer entering. She couldn’t help but feel wronged and unfairly treated.
She also recalled how the students were indifferent to her during classes over the past few days. Some students even openly discussed how Cherise had defeated her and was later escorted by a distinguished man.
These made Yulia remember what Rita told her, “The world has always been unfair. People notice you when you or someone beside you is outstanding!”
