In Psychological Counseling Center, Courtney didn’t return to her rental apartment. Instead, she went to see the psychologist Hayden found for her.
The psychologist was a gentlemanly man named Steven Garcia, who had a good relationship with Hayden. They had known each other since childhood. Steven said, “Theard something happened to you. Did you sort it out?”
Courtney nodded and said, “It’s sorted.”
Steven poured Courtney a cup of coffee and smiled, “Hasi’t Hayden come with you? Isn’t he worried about you?”
Courtney fell into a trance, shook her head, and said. “Hayden is missing”
Steven paused for a second and chuckled, “Don’t worry. He is tough. He has often been missing since he was a kid. Once he disappeared for five years, but he always made it back.”
Courtney’s eyes reddened.! She nodded slightly.
Courtney thought, That’s right
“He’s tough.
“He’ll be back
“But I don’t know what he’s going through”
Courtney said disjointedly. “Steven, I got divorced and got the divorce certificate today.”
On the day Courtney was discharged from the hospital, she told Steven that she could speak again.
Steven sata across from her and said, “Courtney, you’re not disabled. You’re healthy. Your soul needs to be strong.
“When you gradually realize there’s no one in this world who will always back you up, be your permanent support, and be always by your side, that’s when you need to learn how to protect yourself.”
Courtney clenched her hands and slowly let them go. She said, “I feel like my beliefs, my spiritual world, everything I stand for, and my sanity, they’ve all collapsed”
Courtney took a deep breath and tried to hold her tears back, but she couldn’t help it. She shed tears and sobbed, “My parents and my teachers all left me. Austin, who was my only source of strength to keep going, has shattered.”
Steven looked at Courtney and said, “Don’t expect a savior. Don’t rely on others for your happiness. Don’t assume that the person you love will love you
unconditionally.
“After all, even if someone loves you, you may not return it, right? Hayden loves you, but you haven’t given him the same kind of love and response.
“Thus, between people, there should be a clear headed and absolute independence. You need to be able to protect yourself and create your happiness. You need to live for yoursel
Courtney looked down. Her tears fell to the ground nonstop.
Steven sighed and quietly stayed by Courtney’s side,
She was divorced, and she needed an emotional outlet.

Letting it out by crying was a good thing for her.
Steven said, “Life allows for a lot of mistakes. Nobody is born perfect and never makes a mistake. This is true for love, friendship, and even family relationships. People are not perfect, and hearts are the most changeable. Why do you hold on so tightly?
“Cherish the people around you. Cherish those who love you. Treasure every moment.”

By the time she got back from Psychological Counseling Center, it was 8 pum. It was dark outside.
Courtney walked slowly down the old street and enjoyed the night breeze of Henisburg
Before she went on the peacekeeping mission, she never thought that she would find herself all alone one day.
Lorraine and Carl said, “Courtney”
Lorraine and Carl were waiting for her downstairs. When they saw Courtney, they sighed in relief, “We got you some snacks.”
Courtney smiled, “Thanks” She realized that she still had friends and comrades she had shared life–and–death moments with.
Lorraine hugged Courtney and said, “Courtney, congratulations.”
Carl held a small cake and said, “Let’s celebrate the new chapter in your life.”
Courtney softly inquired about Hayden’s situation, “Hayden…”
Carl comforted her gently, “He’ll be fine. No news is the best news.”
Courtney nodded and followed Lorraine upstairs.
As they walked out of the stairwell, they saw Austin at the door,
Courtney frowned and didn’t know why he was there.
Lorraine said angrily, “What are you doing here? You have divorced.”
Austin held some takeout and said, “I’ve been waiting for you for hours. Courtney, eat something”
Courtney looked at Austin and tried to figure out what he was up to
Austin said softly, “Courtney, even though we got divorced, I told you that my feelings for you never changed.”
Lorraine said, “You’re shameless. How can you say that? Are you a beast? You sent Courtney to the mental hospital. You almost got her killed. How can you still have the nerve to say that?”
Lorraine shook with anger and never had seen someone so shameless.
Austin looked at Courtney and said with red eyes, “Courtney, there are 90 thousand in the card. The password is your birthday.”
Courtney stepped forward, took the card, and said, “90 thousand… That’s not even ten percent of the interest. Do you think you can just brush me off
with this?”
Austin said, “Courtney, I’ll work hard to earn money. Even if it takes the rest of my life, I’ll pay you back.”
