Morris nodded and poured Cherise another glass of water. “What about you, Cherise?”
Cherise smiled faintly, took a sip of water, and said, “My so–called sister is getting engaged–and to my ex–fiancé at that. It’d be rude nor to send a gift. Don’t you think?”
From the other side of the table, Crow, seeing her expression, immediately sensed she was up to something.

Truman breathed a sigh of relief. With Morris’s look just now, he knew that if he didn’t find a way to keep Xenia away, he’d be the one paying for it.

When she saw the flowers he had thoughtfully arranged, the last trace of unhappiness vanished.
Morris, who had been worried all day, finally relaxed and leaned in to kiss Cherise deeply.
