Caleb looked confused. He knew he signed the papers, but he didn’t know I
had even gotten the certificates! The divorce had been a month in the making!
He asked why Judith helped me and set him up with Olivia.
“I know that Olivia broke your heart. But now she’s back, and you’re

Judith showed him the contract. It was a contract about paying a debt of
gratitude and my signature was on it.“Mom, what’s this?”
Judith explained, “When Olivia left you for her ex–husband, you were
heartbroken. I wanted someone to help you move on.” She asked me to fulfill the contract and I did it well. I had never called her Mom and considered myself as
Mrs. Hayes.

Caleb was stunned. Everything I did for him was because of the contract? I’d never loved him? That was why I was so eager to divorce him when Olivia returned? But my love for him couldn’t have been fake! He clutched the contract, his face darkening. It turned out that nothing was real
