Chapter 14
Asher and Lily didn’t utter another word to each after their little incident. Asher kept himself busy with work, and phonecalls while Lily spent her time browsing through Gloria’s interior design collection, trying to come up with something for the big project she has coming up.
Their vow of silence was broken when it was finally time to sleep, and Asher picked up the pillow and an extra sheet from the wardrobe. “You can have the bed tonight, I’ll sleep on the couch. It’s comfortable enough for me.” He said, and Lily looked up from her phone. She wanted to tell him it was okay for them to share the bed, but the moment she tried to, the memories of what transpired earlier came pouring into her mind, making her tongue too heavy for her to move and speak, so she just bobbed her head and watched him leave.
The minute he stepped out of the room, Lily decided to sign out for the night as well before she’ll give into her instincts to call him in and have them share their bed. And it wasn’t just because she cared, a part of her also wanted to find out how dangerous it could be for them to share a bed. Feeling the heat rep up her neck and her cheeks, she slapped her cheeks lightly before tucking herself into bed.
A few minutes right as she was about to doze off, she heard the door creaking and her heart lurched to her stomach. Did someone break in or washer trying to..? She immediately pulled the duvet off her face and sprang up on her bed. Asher froze once they made eye contact with each other, and slowly, Lily’s face morphed into one of suspicion “Wh–what are you doing?” He immediately hid the pillow he was holding behind him and scratched the back of his neck with a small smile, causing Lily’s eyes to squint even further in suspicion. “Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping on the couch?”
“It’s smaller than I thought. It would be uncomfortable to spend the night there, plus you said the bed is large enough for both of us. Her eyes darted to the bed, once again confirming her earlier words before she turned back to Asher with narrowed eyes.
“But you said it was dangerous.”
“I take back my words, but…it can be dangerous if you want it to be. He said with a straight face and Lily rolled her eyes. She stood up from the bed, walked to the couch and picked up the sheet he left there. She rolled it up and used it to cause a division on the bed.
Think of this as a huge wall or curtain between us. You’d be in your own room, and I’d be in mine. No need for anyone to cross over to the side of the other. She said, beaming proudly at her work.
Asher’s gaze lingered on the rolled up sheet then back at Lily, before he started walking up to his side of bed. “Are you that scared?” She shrugged and laid on her chosen side.
“I’m just cautious, plus.. I already know nothing will happen. None of us is attracted to the other.” Asher halted, raising his brows as he looked at her.
“Is that what you think?” Lily’s eyes widened at the hidden meaning of his questions and she gulped.
She immediately laid down and covered herself, hoping she was fast enough to hide the heat that had spread across her face. “Go to bed, Asher.”
She heard him chuckle before the bed dipped under his weight on it. “You know, in the clips of dramas I’ve come across… It’s always the woman that ends up crossing the line.”
“All I got from what you just said is that you watch dramas.”
A long silence followed her observation before Asher whispered “Goodnight, Lily” and quickly put the lights off. Lily chuckled at his actions, and he groaned. “If you don’t stop laughing, this rolled up sheet might find it’s way around your lips.” Lily snickered at his words, but didn’t make anymore sound. After a while, she dozed off. Asher who’d been waiting for her to sleep, worried that his presence might have made her more uncomfortable than he thought it would found himself smiling at the sounds of her light snores before he finally drifted off into lala land as well
Lily opened her eyes to a heavy weight pressing down on her sides and the rays of sunlight blurring her vision. She groaned.

angling her face away from the sun while trying to get rid of the heaviness on her sides. She tried severally to get the weight off but it was not burdging, growing frustrated, she began hitting on it, and only then did she realize the cause of her pain. Her lips curled up in a teasing smile when she realized it was Asher’s arm was curled around her, while her back was pressed. against him. Their closeness hadn’t yet dawned on her as she thought of ways to rub it in his face that he was the one that overstepped their boundaries, till she managed to turn, and was practically inhaling the same air as him-
She felt the thumping of her heart skyrocket to a hundred almost immediately, and she was pretty sure her face was beet red. She tried wiggling her body to escape his hold on her, but that only ended up pushing her closer to him. She gulped loudly at the lack of space between them, her face was practically pressed up against his, and instead of thinking of ways to slip out of his hold, she found herself admiring his face.
It was the first time she had ever seen him that up close, and all did was enhance his beauty. His brows was full and thick, his lashes were by far longer than hers, yet these features did nothing to jar the glaring masculinity of his face. Unconsciously, she raised her hand and using her finger tips, she began to trail his sharp jaw. She was so engrossed in her actions, a smile playing on her lips that she didn’t realize that Asher had woken up and was now staring at her.
Her breath was practically knocked out of her when she looked up and saw him staring at her, his hazel eyes looking more shiny than it usually does.
“I suspected that you’d ross the line, but I didn’t think you’d be so boldly touching me first thing in the morning” He whispered and something other than Lily’s heart thumped fastly. She immediately withdrew her hand and tried to create some distance but Asher held her firmly in place, making escape impossible. “Why are you trying to run away? I thought you’d own up to your mistakes with your head held high. A smirk played on his lips and Lily swallowed.
“Touching you was my only mistake.” She said when she finally got her voice, and Asher’s brown knitted together in
frown.
“But you were also pressed up against me. We should have made a bet last night, or… Created a befitting punishment for crossing the boundaries. He raised his hand, and using his index finger, he trailed her face softly. “Don’t you think so?”

The tension between them slowly rose to an octave, and all that was ringing in Asher’s head was the look on her face as she said ‘punish. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and created some distance between them. “You are trouble, Giglio.” He said and stood up from the bed.
