Chapter19
When Elena was driven away, she was devastated.
Jordan was never the forgiving type.
He hated those rumors from back then, so he certainly didn’t treat Elena kindly.
Jordan didn’t usually swear.
But he was a genius, able to scar someone for life without uttering a single curse word.
Elena probably wouldn’t dare to see him again after this.
“Are you okay?” I asked Jordan, looking at him. His wounds were shallow and had been treated. “Will this affect your company?”
“Don’t worry, it’s not a big deal. But Nicholas will need stitches.”
“Stitches are too lenient. I hope he ends up scarred for life.”
Jordan suddenly smiled. “Now that’s more like it.”
“What?”
“This is the real you. How long has it been since you said something this defiant? Say a few more. I want to hear it.”
“Screw business. It’s all a bunch of liars.”
“What else?”
“Meat prices have gone up again. How am I supposed to live?”
“Good, keep going.”
“Screw overtime. I just want to stay home, watch TV, and sleep.”
“Are you complaining about me?”
Chapter 19
“No, I wouldn’t dare.”
“You totally would.”
The sunlight shone on the snow as we bickered all the way.
Suddenly, it felt like we were back in our school days.
I let out all the emotions I’d been suppressing over the years. As I kept talking, I started
Aying.
“Will you wait for me? I’ll pay back all the money.”
Jordan started fumbling again.
“What are you talking about? And why did you suddenly get mad before? I was wrong to
pay off your debt without asking, but you shouldn’t ignore me.”
“You treated me like a burden. How could I dare to talk to you?”
“Burden?” Jordan frowned. “Who said that?”
“Elena…”
Wait, could she have been stirring up trouble?
But the screenshot was real.
I pulled up the chat record.
Jordan looked at it and got angry.
“I wasn’t talking about you at all!”
