ISABEL’S POINT OF VIEW
“Are you okay?” I heard Hayden’s voice after I woke up, but my eyes weren’t open. He was sitting next to me on the bed, and my hand are in his large ones.
“How is she doing?” he inquired curiously.
“I believe she will be waking up anytime soon. The pack doctor has asked that we stay with her,” Gina replied, and I smiled as my eyes fluttered open.
“She’s awake,” Savannah announced as she held my hands lovingly.
“I can’t believe you nearly killed us with the way you blacked out a while ago,” Hayden remarked as he kissed my forehead. I could feel the stress and fear radiating from him.
“Hey, you worry too much,” I teased, and he rubbed his forehead
“Worry too much? And what was that about you raising a dead child? Is that really normal?” he questioned as I sat up on the bed.
Savannah’s eyes bore into mine with concern. “I don’t know… I can’t explain how it happened. I was led toward the child. And then I felt strength leaving me,” I explained calmly.
“What does that mean, Savannah? She passed out from raising the child!” Hayden burst out angrily.
“That’s why you need to calm down and listen to what I’m about to say,” Savannah urged, holding his hands softly.
“I think she has healing powers, too. Your mate is very unique, and it’s up to us to find out more about her. Maybe it’ll be best if you review the strange laws our father had around here,” Savannah suggested, and Hayden’s eyes softened in my direction.
“That is like telling me to remove the laws that bind witches to exile?” he asked in confusion.
“Exactly! I see no reason why Father let his selfish desire to take away my powers lead him to such an extent. Isabel has to find her roots and the extent of her powers. She practically just raised a dead child in front of us,” Savannah continued, and I rubbed my face.
“What if that ends up getting us in more trouble than we realize Jena made a prophecy that I might end up leading the pack to its doom,” I whispered, letting my insecurities get the better of me.
“Are you going to let the words of your haters get to you?” Savannah asked angrily.
“I can’t help it, okay? They all came out here to tell me how much they don’t like me,” I muttered, and Hayden’s eyes softened as he looked at me.
“Believe me, all that nonsense is about to change because they saw what happened a while ago. They know your powers benefit the pack and would not try to put you down to glorify themselves,” he assured, and tears rolled down my cheeks.
Thank you, baby, for all you do,” I whispered, and he kissed the op of my nose.
“We love and cherish you, Isabel. Always remember that. I’ll leay you to rest while I have a few words with my aunt and Hector, he informed me and made his way out of my room.
“He’s such a lover boy. Hayden cares about you a lot, Savannah observed and I smiled at her

“You must be kidding me. I’ve stayed sixteen for years,” Savannah sighed and looked away immediately.

“That doesn’t mean you’re sixteen. You only stopped ageing; it doesn’t mean you’re not mature in mind and heart…” I trailed off, and she chuckled bitterly..
“I feel like opening up to someone who would eventually die is plain stupid. I would never try it,” she said, and my eyes softened in her direction.
“Savannah…” I called out.
“Let’s talk about something else. I think we need to do some important research with Yuna’s help. We must find out who your real parents are, the connection they have to you, and, most importantly, whether Jena’s prophecy is real,” Savannah declared.
“I also believe we might just connect the dots and find out who killed Grandma Shu in the end. We never can tell how everything can just add up,” she suggested, and Gina nodded.
“My Luna, remember those books we came across at the Royal Library?” she asked, and I rubbed my forehead.
“Royal Library? They let the both of you in there?” Savannah questioned and I smirked.
“What’s running through your mind, Savannah?” I asked, and she chuckled.
“A lot. The last time we had a conversation, you informed me Grandma Shu was in custody of some books. It never occurred to me you were referring to the Royal Library. That aside, we need to get to work now!” she urged, and I shrugged.
“I believe I still have the keys to the library.” I got down from the bed and walked over to my locker, then sent my hands through it, trying to find the keys.
“Is everything okay?” Gina asked curiously.
“I can’t find the keys,” I murmured as I turned around, and they both mirrored the expression on my face.
“What do you mean you can’t find it? That’s not ordinary. If you can’t find your keys to the library, I smell foul play. Which only means one thing, someone is trying to hide some really good information from you, girl,” she commented, and I understood her point.
“Who would stoop so low as to steal your keys to the Royal Library just to hide information from you?” Gina wondered curiously.
“Who else if not my aunt? Aunt Lucia would do anything to save her sorry self in this mansion, even if it means going out of her way to hurt people in the process,” Savannah remarked, and the words got into my head.
“Shit!”

“You’re saying nonsense! Isabel might be different, I understand, but saying such things about her is just crazy,” I protested, and Jenna chuckled as she poured wine into a clean glass for me
“I’ve heard stories of just how stubborn you and Hayden are, but didn’t think it would be to the point of ignoring things that would save your pack from potential ruin,” she noted, and I picked up my glass, then drank from it as I looked away.
“Tell me what I want to hear,” I snapped angrily, and she chuckled
She began, “Isabel is different, yes, but she’s more powerful than any seer that has ever existed. It’s only a matter of time before she figures that out herself.”

“What do you think has been causing the deaths by the border?” she asked, and my heart sank immediately when she mentioned those words.
“You talk about the prophecy in such a way that all I see is doom. It makes me question everything I know about Isabel, and I do not approve of it!” I uttered.
“You know what? Maybe coming here was a mistake in the first place,” I barked, and I made to leave the house.
“Hector!” she called, and I turned.
“I hope you open your eyes to the painful reality of what comes with being Isabel’s mate. Have a lovely night’s re she taunted, and I took hastened steps out of the house.
“Back to the pack house,” I instructed the driver immediately I got into my car, and the driver took off.
I was pissed off, her words seemed to echo in my head, putting my mind in a fix and creating doubts about Isabel. “What’s going on?” I asked when I noticed the compound looked like people had stormed into it a while ago.
“Alpha,” one of the young guards bowed in respect.
“Did anything happen in my absence?” I questioned, and he nodded.

“Members of the pack came here to protest a few hours ago. One of the women had lost her daughter. They came here with the lifeless child, claiming that Luna’s curse was getting the better of them. To them, Jena’s prophecy was slowly coming to
pass,
and the Luna had to be sent away to keep the pack safe,” he explained.
“What the hell…” I trailed off in shock.
“Alpha Hayden tried to control the situation, but it didn’t end well. The Luna came out, and something magical happened, we saw the child come back to life,” he recounted, and I completely lost it as I marched into the palace angrily.
Did she raise a dead child? That explains the level of power, and if this was true, then Jena’s prophecy would come to pass. “Hector, I’ve been looking for you all day. We need to talk,” he said, and I sighed. “What exactly are we talking about? Because I don’t get it,” I grumbled, and he sighed. “Isabel raised a dead child back to life,” I reported, and he rubbed his head in frustration.
“It’s the trending news in the pack already. Our girl is unique,” he stated, and I stared at him like he had completely lost it. “Our girl is unique, that’s all you have to say about it? Do you have the slightest idea what that means for the pack?“Lasked. “Her power will grow stronger and stronger as the days pass. Anyone who has the power to bring life definitely has the power to take it!” I fumed angrily.

that lives within her, it’s up to us to support her and help her find true purpose.“,
“It is up to us to protect the well–being of the pack members,” I shot back angrily, and he stood up to me.
“You suddenly don’t like Isabel?” he questioned, his eyes narrowing in my direction.
“That’s not what I meant…” I murmured, trailing off.

“Protecting the members doesn’t mean being paranoid! Jena tried to fill your head with a prophecy we don’t even know is real. Isabel might have powers, but I trust her, and I’m disappointed in you. I’d be heading back to her, she needs to know she’s not alone,” he retorted.
“That girl has been hurt too many times by those she trusted all her life. The last thing I want is for us to be on the list of people who hurt her, Hector. You can do better,” Hayden insisted as he made his way toward his room.
The pack needs to be protected from Isabel’s power. As much as I liked her, my feelings must be compromised for the pack’s safety.
